Re: A Pug's Voice
Mason, you are a very wise pug indeed. I was walking my Penny Lane yesterday, and a woman turned around, looked at her, and said "Ooooh, it's a pug ugly!" I responded that I think she is gorgeous (and she is), and the woman told me about a friend of hers who names all her pugs after flowers, and "Isn't that ridiculous?" I told her that I thought it was very appropriate. That started me thinking much along the lines of your blog entry. We all look at our pugs and see them as the beautiful creatures they are. Our culture does not always value age, and there are those who look on older humans and do not see their beauty. I am so happy that pug people see the beauty of age as well as the beauty of youth in our pugs.

Thank you so much for your kind letter. Yes, we pugs seem to bear the brunt of jokes, derision, but also a lot of love from those who are our admirers...Mason
