Folks with human little ones

Post  northernwitch on 2/7/2010, 7:53 pm

In an effort to get a grip on Tank's itchies and yeasties, I am covering all the dog beds with 100% cotton fitted crib sheets and changing them every day (Yes, I am a saint). If any of you with little ones have old cotton fitted crib sheets that you'd like to donate to the "Beat the Yeast" campaign, I'd love to have them.

They can be flannel or not, but they have to be 100% cotton. Or alternatively, if you have XXL T-shirts that are all cotton, you can send them.

Sorry to be begging for hand-me-downs, but if I'm going to be changing the bedding of five dog beds every day, I need a supply! I've bought 10, but if you guys can spare any, Tank would thank you.

Hi Blanche,

Do the crib sheets fit perfectly on your dog beds? When my granddaughter was born last year I did the spare room into a nursery at my house and had the best time decorating. I found a pattern for crib sheets and made a kazillion of them because they were so darn cute! If you want my extras I can send them along, or if you need them a specific size I can redo them.

Tarrington--
The fitted ones fit my larger dog beds perfectly and the elastic keeps them in place even with Hazel's relentless digging in the beds. I think the fitted size I got was 28 by 52(?) The fitted sheets for bassinets fit my smaller dog beds.

I don't want anyone going out of their way or anything. We think that Tank (1) is sweating while lying in his dog beds and that is aggravating his yeast and (2) I'm not killing all the bacteria on the beds so need to cover the beds and wash the coverings often. Since I'm not supposed to use any chemicals on his stuff, I'm going to be doing laundry the old fashioned way and boiling his bed covers.......

We only have a few crib sheets but Logan is still using them.

But we have a ton of old, stained x-large cotton t-shirts that Karl really has no business still wearing. Does it matter if they have some sort of silk screening on them? If you turn them inside-out, will they still bother Tank?

LOL. T-shirts are fine as long as they are 100% cotton. I don't think silk screening will matter. I'll be boiling them in any case so anything on them will have to be like kryptonite to survive.

We're still in a crib here (and hope to use them again for #2, no I'm not pregnant, just saying!),
but I may be able to find you a couple XL t-shirts. I have your address :)

And we already knew you were a saint Blanche!

Well, I look decidedly un-saint like as I stir my boiling pot of crib sheets with my long wooden spoon. Way more like my supposed witch self than I'd like to think.

Tucker thinks the fact that I'm boiling Tank's bed covers is hilarious and calls me Maw now.

I love Tucker's sense of humor!!! Hope it helps and Tank appreciates all your efforts!

Now I'm not calling you a witch, but where'd you get a cauldron....uhm I mean pot big enough to boil crib sheets in? Or are you just using a big soup pot one at a time?

I used to do alot of canning and so I have an enormous enamel canning pot and that's what I'm boiling the sheets in. I can boil four sheets at a time in it.

Someone also suggested freezing the sheets--which I guess could work.
