How to get rid of a pesky solitictor

Post  Newsie96 on 3/1/2010, 3:12 pm

So I'm working at home today and the doorbell rings. This of course annoys the heck out of me because 1) I know it's someone trying to sell me something and b) it sets the dogs off.

So I have the door six inches open, trying to listen to see what this kid wants, and the pugs are banking off me and Duke is doing his "ohmygodifyoudon'tletmeouti'llgocrazy" scream. So I ask the kid "Are you afraid of dogs?" And he said confidently "Oh no, I have two chihuauas (I know I killed that spelling)." Ok, great, so I open the door and the pugs shoot out like horses let out on the track in the Kentucky Derby.

So the pugs proceed to jump on this kid, one at a time, and he's so flustered. Apparently chis are NOTHING like pugs (duh, we all know this). So I'm trying not to laugh at the kid, but it's striking me so funny. I get out "I'm sorry, no soliciting in this complex" and get the pugs up the stairs with the "cookie!!" tease.

They fly up the stairs, the kid offers to leave me a flyer "yes, just go!" and I come in and lock the door. It just struck me so funny that this kid is trying to get out his speech while Murphy and Duke and tag-team pug shoving him. Normally I'd have corrected the bad manners, but after a touch morning and a killer conference call coming up, it just made my day.

I'm evil, but I sure love my crazy pugs.

haha! that's pretty funny! Very Happy

that is a good way to get them to not come back since they wont be able to focus on their speech, lol. nice job puggies!

to save you the time of getting up and dealing with it in teh future, maybe put a sign up at the front of the path to your door, or driveway, lawn..etc. or maybe even get one for your door? you could get them online or at home depot i think.

thanks for sharing this..funny story! good luck next time !

Funny!

When my kids were small, I used to let them take the phone calls between 4 and 7 p.m. I'll never forget my-then-5-year-old daughter discussing the color she'd like the house with someone calling about home improvements. I think they hung up when she got to the "pink house with purple windows" part!

I like your method better than mine, but I only have Penny. Good boys, Murph and Duke!

That is too funny! We have both a "no solicitors" and a "beware of dog" sign by the front door and they STILL ring the doorbell and want to try to sell us stuff. Some people have no sense.
