I think it's a great idea to have wheels sooner rather than later rather than try to put off the inevitable. It must be so much easier to adjust while the dog still has some muscle tone rather than waiting until it has been virtually immobile for ages and lost fitness.

Good for you.

I can't wait to see photos and see how to adjusts to them. I think that it will lift her spirits to be more mobile!

I have had 5 in carts, and they do not take any time at all to get going. Just snap them in, and get out of the way. They will hook the wheels on furniture, coffee tables etc. so we pretty much limit the use to outdoors. Hopefully your yard is pretty flat. The one thing they love to do is turn fast. Don't know why, but they just turn like a house afire, and if you have a slope or hill, and they do that on the side hill, they can rollover. It doesn't hurt them, but really ticks them off as once over they can't get up on their own. But happy in wheels, you bet!!

What company are you ordering from?? We use doggon carts, but lots of good ones out there.

Gosh Joan, I just ADORE that picture! So sweet! Have you sent it in to Doggon' Wheels for their testimonial page? We can testify to the wheels getting caught on corners, table legs, etc. in the house. We have scratch marks in the drywall in the 2 doorways to our kitchen because I used to put Pugsy in her wheels to eat dinner (to help her stand). She would come tearing around the corner into the kitchen & BAM! - one of the wheels would get caught but she'd keep trying to go forward without fully backing up & turning out of the way of the wall. It's probably silly, but I'm gonna hate patching them up the next time that we paint because they remind me of her.

I can't wait to see Kayla in her new wheels. We are probably going to have to start using Pugsy's old wheels for Yoda soon since her back legs are getting worse. Of course, that just means that she'll be able to get to the poop even faster when she's out in the yard but at least she won't be falling over on the way there.

Joan, that picture is awesome, and I agree with Brenda, if you haven't already, you should send that to Doggon!! Yes, we've decided to go with Doggon Wheels. It's amazing how many options are out there - makes it hard to decide, but Doggon seems to have the best reviews from all the reading I've done, best guarantee and they're pretty reasonably priced too. We're going to do her measurements this weekend and get it ordered. I cannot wait to get Kayla in the wheels and get her going - she's so going to enjoy the freedom they will give her.

I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as we've got Kayla in her wheels.

Love to see a pic of her in the wheels. We did a lot of research too, and what we found was that the saddle on the doggon ones are more comfortable, and facilitate movement on the back legs. Kayla will love it!!

About getting caught and tipping up, Louie used to go to a tree, and get one wheel up on the trunk, and almost turn over , so he could get a good angle to pee. he could stand there with one wheel about a foot higher than the other. Wish I had a pic of that. Never thought of it, at the time.
Now he runs and runs and runs without the cart. Took 2 yrs but he is good now. Just bought a camcorder to get movies of them, will post a link as soon as I learn how to edit.
