The Wrecking Crew

Post  northernwitch on 3/12/2010, 4:16 pm

I don't know how they did it. I don't want to know. But I heard a huge crash and when I came downstairs, Pippin and Sonny (the pugcat) were sitting on the livingroom floor in the middle of my smashed tiffany lamp. It's not a real tiffany, obviously, but still......

I assume they were running around and I think launching themselves off of the back of my wingback chair--and knocked the lamp over. It's totally trashed. I could kill both of them.

NEVER let a pug and a cat team up!! It only leads to chaos and tears (for the humans).

It was damn easy to be mad at them as I was sweeping up broken glass and lugging my smashed lamp out to the garbage.

I'm sorry about your lamp. I love Tiffany lamps

Maybe, they'll behave for the rest of the day?

(they are awfully damn cute though...)

Well, it was hardly a priceless heirloom--I got it at Home Depot, but it was a great lamp. One of those tall floor lamps with the dragonfly pattern. I'm pretty pissed that they busted it. Wasn't cheap either.

Oh well......

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the sound sleep when you know a good job has been accomplished. Well done!

And it gives you an excuse to go out and buy something else.

Re: The Wrecking Crew

Post  Winston's Mom on 3/12/2010, 7:44 pm

Blanche,

Welcome to my world. I'm fortunate that the pugs do not participate in the tom foolery, however, my sweet little inherited bengal kitty that is so pretty, had taken his toll on my lamps. Thank goodness they are the metal kind and have fabric shades. He has not discovered that he can hang from them yet! Thank DOG for that! He had toppled every lamp in my bedroom from the ones on the dresser to the ones on the night stand. The only one that is important is the one on the nightstand. I have removed the light bulbs from the others after the first crash.

It's a good think he is cute and pretty or he would have been a very dead kitty! He trys my patience something aweful. But he is still a little cutie.

Not fun cleaning up their aftermath though! I will sure be glad when he grows up!

My sympathies for the loss of your tiffany lamp

It is hard to stay mad at so much cuteness. It is still a drag, though. I've eyeballed that lamp, too.

HA! I know that sort of CATastrophe! Whenever this sort of thing goes on in my house, I start singing an old Punkabilly song called "Wrecking Ball" because it just fits the inevitable outcome.

Not the best recorded version of the song.
