Does anybody know any resources to help with my sick pug?

Post  sassysmama on 3/8/2010, 9:46 pm

Hello everyone!

I have a very sick little pug who has been fighting for her life. The good news is she is responding to treatment the bad news is the bills....

On Friday our baby Sassy who is 8 years old got poisoned from Zinc because she got into some change that I left on a coffee table. I had no idea at first but then Friday night she began to bleed out. We rushed her to Redwood Vet in California. Of course they couldn't treat her without money. I called everyone I knew and we raised 1100.00.
She has had transfusions, labwork and her stay, but she is not home yet. She has pneumonia and is on oxygen with labored breathing. The good news is her blood count went from 12 to 26 and she is doing better. Thank God!
The bills are at almost 2500 heading toward 3000 and I am on Social Security with a disabled teen aged son. This is so hard. I just do not know what to do.

Does anybody know any information that may help me? Any suggestions, thoughts...Maybe you know of a organization that helps with Vet bills for the low income....really just about any advice would be great.

God Bless all the pug owners and lovers, your thoughts and prayers would be appreciated to help bring Sassy my Darling home.

Light and Love Geri

Welcome to Pug Authority. I'm sorry you found us under such sad circumstances. Here is a link to a site that has links to different organizations that offer financial assistance for veterinary care. http://www.speakingforspot.com/helppayingforveterinarycare.html

I hope you are able to find assistance and Sassy continues to improve and returns home soon.

Good luck.

I am sorry to hear about your girl, I will keep her in my thoughts. Here are a couple of resources that I know of:

http://www.imom.org/

But your best bet might be to get CareCredit-http://www.carecredit.com/vetmed/. It's a credit card but you can get a no interest plan, if you pay it off within a certain amount of time.

There is an organization here in Reno, the Shakespeare Fund (http://www.shakespeareanimalfund.org/) that will help with vet bills, but I don't think they help out-of-state. They may know of a resource that would be able to help you, though. Worth a try.
