Update on Murphy
We went to the doctor on Thursday and he does indeed have colitis. Since he was there last, a few months ago, he'd lost three and a half pounds. Part of this we attrtibuted to his new diet but part of it is likely caused by this colitis. Murphy, who once weighed in at 23 pounds is now 19! But it is an ok weight on him and he's not showing any ribs.
The doctor gave me two meds to calm Murphy's system. So after a week of watery poops, Murphy just stopped pooping. I was ready to call the doctor tomorrow but I'm happy to report tonight he had his first, really good poop, after a week and a half.
And really, you guys are the only ones who would understand good poops, and want to share in my happy dance.
Murphy will continue with boiled chicken and rice for the next few days while I ease him back into his Honest Kitchen diet. This afternoon was torture for him because we had our first Sunday pug meet up at a local doggie bakery and I had to tell all the pug parents not to feed Murphy because of his colitis. If you thought a pug could look sad when he was healthy, I should have taken a picture at the pathetic look on Murphy's face as he watched all the other pugs indulge on the fine baked goods.
He got some chicken at home but I still think he's mad about the incident. I told him he's get some of the bakery goodies when he was back to his old self again.

Good poops are a Good Thing! I'm so glad that the Murph-man is back to himself. Give him a big hug from me, and tell him that Auntie Nancy will send him some nice treats for Christmas.

I understand the beauty of a good Pug poop. Good for Murphy!

I told Murphy about the treats and he wanted me to tell you that you're his favorite auntie. (And Duke adds that he loves you, too.) LOL!

I stopped a brotherly brawl about 20 minutes ago. That's always a good sign. Now they are cuddled up together.

Sam,
Do you think the Honest Kitchen caused him any stomach problems? I know it is a great food but could it be too rich or strong for Murphy?

I think it's the zinc lozenges he got out of my backpack. He's been on Honest Kitchen for a while.
