PUGSMUM wrote:Don't worry about that limit thing, I am only supposed to have 4, and I have 9...so far. So silly too, we have 10 acres here and are allowed any number of liestock. So in Canada, just ignore the by-laws, they don't make sense anyway.
Congrats on your new little one, he is adorable
Unfortunately, Joan, I live in the City of Toronto and if anyone wanted to complain to the by-law enforcement officers, I wouldn't have a leg to stand on. It's easier when I'm over the by-limit with pugs as most folks can't tell my fawns apart. It's harder when I have a mix of breeds. And Toronto does check to see if you've licensed your animals. I do have my three allowable dogs and my two cats licensed as it keeps me off the radar. But I can't license Theo until someone (God forbid) passes away.
Fortunately, the rescue I am fostering him for is happy to consider him a "permanent foster"--and she and I know it is in name only.

I'll join the ranks of all who are shocked .... NOT! And hey, if those nasty, AC people come a-knocking, you can always say you're babysitting for me.

LOL--that's why he's going to stay on the "books" as a foster. I'm allowed to have a foster dog.....

Yeah, he had that "I live life on my own terms and you'll love me anyway" type of attitude that is tailor made for your household. How's Tank taking the news?

By laws, bah. Grab some Canadian Geese to guard the perimeter and you'll be fine.
I remember when I called the city (from a pay phone, LOL) to see if they had a limit. The reply was "as long as we don't get complaints and as long as the animals are properly cared for, there is no limit." Then he asked what kind of dogs I had. When I told him pugs, he said "oh, you could probably have a dozen of those-they are small." Then he mentioned that some folks can take care of a dozen and some cannot take care of one. LOL.
Give him a hug for me Blanche. He chose well.

That's right - bylaws, schmylaws! Rules were made to be broken (says another woman who can't turn away the "unadoptable" ones and is over the limit by two right now
