Need Help from Other Rescues With Closing Rescue

Post  Pugsavers on 10/6/2009, 4:09 pm

OK...I have the full trust of the gal who is closing down her rescue and PugSavers (basically me) will be the go to contact in getting these pugs re-homes.

I need to know who can take pugs or mixes (there are a few young mixes)...how many, what ages or disabilities they will take, and any ideas of how they will get the pugs to them.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Obviously I can't help with taking any, unless we get that pipeline to Alaska established, but how sad they have to close. My prayers to the people and pugs involved...

So glad she will work with you Roxane. Have you contacted the CA rescues? I think DFW said they could help as well.

Cindy at Pughearts said they could help as well. There were a few that Pm'd me off Pug Village, so you might want to post there. What exactly is going on?

Depending on when and where I can help transport as part of a team.

I could also consider fostering (assuming the said pug(s) are okay with children and stairs), but only for a couple weeks because we are leaving the country for 2 weeks in November.

After I get over this crud, I'm available for transport as needed.

I pray that this lady really does allow them to go to other rescues. If you can pull this off Roxane you are a saint.

Quite honestly, she is leery of most of the other CA Pug Rescues because of the lack of screening of potential homes. I am hoping to get rescues that she feels comfortable with....Pug Hearts I think would be great. Do you have any contact with her? Can you get my info to her? She can get me on Facebook at PugSavers Pug Rescue.
I will post on PV too.

Hopefully this will all work out... I wish people had come forward to help her before this instead of trying to break her down..it would have been better for all concerned. But in any case, I think we are heading in the right direction.

Glad she is working with you, that's too bad about the CA rescues, I think on another board (the pug meet up) someone said they had some homes set up. We are strained and can't take in any right now, but I can help with transport, depending on where/when.

I couldn't adopt a pug to save my life from the 2 local ones because of my cats!

Stephanie (Pigeon on PA) with Happy Ending Rescue may have some foster homes or be able to help. The client who was going to adopt Kimchi is still looking to foster or adopt and someone I work with is looking for a pug and may want to foster. Also, Beagles and Buddies in So Cal has been willing to help in the bast - they have had quite a few pugs and have a kennel. A friend adopted a terrier mix from them at my recommendation and LOVED them.

My availability for transport and coordination is very limited these days but I'll see what I can do. I think if I brought home another pug I may end up on the street, but I can offer sexual favors to Chris in exchange for short-term foster permission. Very Happy

Adoptions have been very slow lately so right now so I have no room for more rescues :( Spring's skin infection came out fungal positive so I can't bring any new dogs to my home for now. Let me know if you need any help though I might be able to find more foster homes.

Christy said she can't foster due to her busy schedule and some family matters :( She couldn't foster Bee-dam
