Our 'Foster', Rocky...

Post  Maryjo on 2/11/2010, 12:45 pm

I officially adopted Rocky yesterday, signed the contract and everything. He now is no longer a foster...

Big surprise, heh?

Hi Donna, I got Rocky as a foster back in June of '09. His human dad had a major heart attack and died a month later. Rocky's human mom couldn't handle organizing her life and keeping their 4 pugs. They were both independent business owners and this threw her for a loop, it was unexpected.

She is a HUGE contributor to Polar Pug Rescue, and has been a friend of mine (along with her late husband) for years. Her other three pug boys came from Polar Pug Rescue and we re-homed them into great homes.

Rocky had been with them since he was a pup, and I'd known him almost as long. She asked for me to foster him permanently. She insists on sending money to Polar Pug Rescue for his care.

Since Beau died, I can officially adopt Rocky. (Well, I could any time, but 4 official pugs is my limit. LOL) I was making a contribution to Polar Pug Rescue anyway (I got my taxes back and I always donate with a portion of them), so Vickie and I filled out an adoption contract so we could clear Rocky off her books.

He is a sweet ol' curmudgeon, and comes with attitude and lots of MCT's. I know he is almost 11, so we'll see how long he'll stick around. I love these seniors!

Thanks MJ for giving me his background. I did notice a large lump on his leg, I searched for him after I saw this. How sad for his family, I could not imagine the sudden loss of a loved one and my pugs.

I DO remember his story and I'm so glad you made him "legitimate". Congratulations!

MJ - were you keeping Rocky under wraps or what??? This whole time I thought he was yours!! He is a sweet guy. How heartbreaking for his previous owner's to have to give him up....but, how wonderful that they knew you!

Was he Monty & Paco's companion? So..4 is the official limit?? I like it. See, I say that about 3, so I just foster the other ones!

Oh goodness, he could not ask for a better home! Congratulations. I missed his story too and wondered why you didn't reply when I asked about his story (or perhaps I missed it-RL has been busy and I'm no online as much as I'd like)

Give him a huge hug for me!
