I thought this for the first time once when I was walking him in our neighborhood and a lady and a little girl asked if they could pet him. The little girl had some physical and mental issues, but she was very sweet. She kept saying horsey...horsey...Odin walked up to her, sat without direction and lowered his head below her hands so she could pet his big ole head!! It was precious. I was SO PROUD of him. I just never knew how much time it would take or where to start. Our puppy class trainer said I should get his CGC, but at the time I was just too busy. Should I get the CGC now or just contact TDI or the Delta Society? '
Oh and there is NO WAY my pugs could do this....
Awww, this story is not curbing my "I want a Mastiff!" urge

You've got a lot going for you on the Tall Grass, but I'm thinking that becoming therapy dogs is not the highest calling of your gang! (OK, perhaps the dim but sweet Taco.)
I just got a mental image of Ceylon in a nursing home telling everyone to shape up and get with the program. I can see it now: Ceylon's Tough Love Therapy - a wholly owned subsidiary of Ceylon, Ceylon & Ceylon, P.C.
And Ceylon would figure out some way to make it profitable!

Don't know about the therapy dog bit, but they'd fit right in with the patients, in my experience. I once watched one of the ugliest verbal fights I'd ever seen between two elderly ladies in a nursing home over a game of cribbage. Fight ended when one of them threw her dentures at the other one....

Therapy dogs are so great. My grandpa had one visit he was sick at his nursing home and he loved it. it's so healthy to have and/or be around other animals. How can they just not brighten your day!
That's awesome that you are going to have yours be one..good luck! :) im sure everyone that meets her will love her!
I would just also be careful because I've read somewhere that therapy dogs from hospitals can bring home certain illnesses (such as flu or mrsa)...so just take caution and probably give her a bath after.

The institutions where I visit have strict infection control procedures and visiting dogs and handlers do not visit patients with MRSA or C.Difficile. Usually a flu outbreak closes the wards down to visitors. Where I visit there are hand sanitizers outside of every room and I clean my hands every time I go into a new room and I carry wipes to rub over my dogs fur.
