Happy Gotcha Month Sort Of, Miss Kitty!
It was about two years ago (can't remember the exact date, but it was the end of September/start of October) when a scruffy long-haired tortoise shell cat started following us around on our evening and night walks. At first, she wouldn't let me get close to her, although she was not afraid of Penny. I could see that she had a collar on, but she wouldn't let me near enough to get a good look. When the weather got cold, I worried about her, and I decided that she was hungry, especially after I found her sitting on the doormat, waiting for us to go walkie one night. So I got some cat food and put a bowl out for her under the stairs. That was when I started calling her Miss Kitty.

She started sleeping on the porch, and I put a towel out there for her to curl up in. As time went by, she let me get closer and closer until I could scratch her ears. Last summer, when Kellie started staying with us, Miss Kitty decided that Kellie was ok, too, and let Kellie get close to her. We started feeding her twice a day, and she decided that she would adopt us and let us pet her and comb her. Then, one day, someone (I think I know who, but they won't admit it) put a very nice pet carrier on our porch. We fixed it up for Miss Kitty, and she moved in to stay. I was able to get the collar off her, and I called the phone number on it. It had been disconnected (gee, what a surprise). And when we moved across the hall to the 2 bedroom so that Kellie and I could each have our own rooms and space, Miss Kitty came along. She still follows us everywhere, complains when meals are late, and chases every other cat out of Her Courtyard (I saw her beat the crape out of a huge black cat one evening). We got her shots and had her checked out - she is probably 2-3 years old and in very good health. We are her humans and Penny is her pug. Nobody else can get near her, and believe me, people have tried.
Lisa C, you told me that a tortie picks its humans, and we are honored to have been chosen by the lovely Miss Kitty. Miss Kitty, I hope that you are with us for a long long time.

From one one-pug-and-one-cat household to another, best wishes on Miss Kitty's gotcha month! She is a lovely lady, and it sounds like she comes with built-in "tortie-tude"! She's a very lucky girl to be taken in by you and Penny.

What a beauty Miss Kitty is. Glad to hear she lives up to the Tortie Divaness
Some can be rather b*tchy, but I think that's what makes them so special.

I remember when Miss Kitty chose you too! Can't believe it has been 2 years! Then again, I can't believe I have been a pug mom for 2.5 years!
