Problems after shoulder surgery MY GRANDPUG

Post  Old Mother Hubbard on 9/29/2011, 1:40 pm

My grandpug Watson had surgery 2 weeks ago for a shoulder surgery to fix an over stretched ligament .This week he has shown the following symtoms since the removed the bandages
Decrease in appetite
Lethargy
Ataxia and falling over.

Vet is saying neurological , cancer or menengitis. Saw a short videoof him and looks more like vestibular symtoms to me . Any ideas experts?

No ideas, just major prayers for Watson and hopes that it is just a delayed anesthesia reaction or some such minor thing.

Personally, I would either go back to the vet or get a second opinion.

Good luck to Watson.

Poor Watson! If you think it's vestibular, I bet it is. The condition has such classic signs it's a fairly easy diagnosis. How old is Watson? If it is vestibular you want to check for causes, although in older dogs it can be just idiopathic. Imi went through a period of having short-lived attacks and once all nasty causes were ruled out, we just learned to live with them. She hasn't had one in AGES. Hope Watson is okay! Please keep us updated. xx
