Another oldster coming in to rescue (15)

Post  Pugsavers on 10/6/2011, 8:03 pm

PugSavers got a call from a pound in the Sierra gold country about a 15 yo pug boy they have in and they are really full.

He was originally found as a stray and his teeth were so bad that he was having drainage out of his nose. His owner claimed him and they told him he needed antibiotics and a dental. The owner took him to the vet to get the antibiotics, then brought him back and dumped him at the shelter!

Well we are flat broke with Pugoween 2 weeks away so I was worried about his need for a dental. The shelter has agreed to tap into their special fund and pay for the majority of the dental if we pay for the blood work.

So his name is Drake and he will be having his dental on Monday and could use some good thoughts and prayers.

Shame on those owners.

Can someone arraign for a pretty fruit basket or spray of flowers for the shelter that is stepping up to help on this? Their effort is unique to say the least. Should we guess the pug was turned loose by the owners to begin with and they were less than thrilled to have him found?

I went to the Pugsavers website to make a donation to help defray their expenses with Drake but I couldn't find where to go. Also, the sponsor form didn't come up. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Bless his heart, the poor old guy! I'll be hoping & praying for an uneventful dental. I always worry so much about putting them under when they're that age but in a case like his, it has to be done. Please post pictures of him on FB once you've got him. I'll be happy to share it with all of the "Rick chicks" who have a soft spot for the name Drake (thanks to the character that he played on GH). Maybe it will help drum up some donations! Wink

I am still waiting for my hospice pug. The other rescue wasn't ready to relinquish him yet. There is a place on the couch for him as soon as they are ready.

Poor old sod, but good for the shelter for stepping in financially.

Look forward to hearing more about him.

I think Ellen is right - the "owners" dumped him and were less than happy to have him found. Thank pug for rescue!!!!!!

Thinking about Drake today as he gets his dental. I was just talking about this with a rescue group on Saturday. I'll never understand how and/or why people get rid of their dogs when they are so old like this. I don't understand at any age but really.....?!?!?! 15 and you don't want them anymore??? Let us know how he did.
