Pug Meet up in CT
I need some input from my favorite pug peeps. I have taken over as the organizer for our pug meet up group. It's sponsored by Curly Tail Pug Rescue and all the proceeds, after we pay for the indoor facility, go to the rescue.
I have 23 yes RSVPs and 13 maybes signed up. I have put together a "Puggy Summer Survival Kit" as a raffle. I got some cute $1 toys (flip flop and Hawaiian flower) with a matching dish and bandana for it. Any other suggestions for this raffle?
I want to make our meet ups fun and get people wanting to come back. In our future meet ups, I hope to have a local dog bakery owner in with samples so she gets exposure and our pugs get good treats. I have also talked to Murphy's trainer and asked her to come in September or October to talk about obedience training and to demo with Murphy. I want people to realize how smart the breed is.
I also hope to have a local groomer in as well as someone from the humane society to talk about puppy mills and the importance of good breeders and rescue.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Pug Meet up in CT
maybe have a photoshoot... or a "one station" agility workshop? Can you partition off part of your area, so that one dog at a time can try a little tunnel once or twice without there being a traffic jam, for example?
And I happen to like MOVING when I am with my dogs.. so I go to meetups where I there is a WALK happening... but don't think I climb any mountains or anything... just stroll through the woods... but then my dogs are o.k. off leash and part of what some meetups are about is being in a safe place where they CAN be off leash and out of danger... perhaps a recall workshop would be of interest to people? (now that I think about it!)

I think I may have my trainer give a short talk about recall. So many people don't know how to encourage it. I know I've been frustrated before and said "Murphy, get over here, now!!!" and had Murphy seem to say, and mock "that's now how we learned in in claaaaaaaaaaaaaaaass. Use your happy voice Mommy!" LOL
