Meet Juniper

Post  northernwitch on 12/18/2011, 1:29 pm

The little pom girl--although I think there's more chihuahua there than anything else. She's a bit overwhelmed and is not appreciative of Mr. Meesh who desperately wants her to play so we've set up an X-pen in the kitchen while she acclimates and settles down. So far, she's very sweet.

Blanche do you think that Meesh sees her as more of a potential playmate because of her age or newness or because of her shape, meaning closer to the dogs he was reared with than pug-shaped dogs?

Asking because I have noticed breed prejudice in individual dogs before and wondered if this was another example?

I would say it is her look except he was raised with pugs as well as chin. but that doesn't mean he didn't look at her and say "Oh thank God, a hairy one finally".

We also aren't sure if she's spayed or not so that could be part of the interest, too, although he's shown no humping interest--but I keep a close eye on them and she's in a crate when I'm not around.

Yes, she is and continues to be dead sweet. Not a hint of Death Pom to her.

If only they could talk and tell you their life story.....her eyes look as if she wants to trust somebody but she is just not sure yet. Such a sweet face.

She's remarkably trusting for a dog that was a stray and has clearly been used for breeding. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy she has been so far and how relatively handle-able she is. So somewhere she's had an okay experience with life.

I love her look. We had a similar looking chi-mix in rescue. And, he was sweet, sweet, sweet!

I was seriously tempted to try and get a picture, but camera was across the room and I was afraid she'd try to jump off of the counter and not go down to the eating section and then the chair. And she's got matchstick legs so could easily snap them.

She was curled up quite happily on the counter of the island.....looking remarkably cat like....
