bump inside anal gland

Louie went to have his anal glands expressed Saturday and they said the right one was pretty full, but normal, and the left one was not as full, but had a small lump/bump on the wall, that they felt. They want him back in 2 weeks to check it, and if it's still there they may put him on antibiotics or an anti-inflammatory because it could just be a minor inflammation, according to the vet. I don't know if it's something to worry about, or nothing....I will certainly get it checked, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Poor Louie! Of course, the first thing any of us think of with lumps and bumps on our Puggies is MCTs, but if the vets are taking a "wait and see" attitude then they mustn't be heading down that road. Maybe you could ask the vets to start the meds now, instead of waiting. Hope it goes away very quickly!

I sure hope it's not a MCT on the inside of the anal gland, but i guess stranger things have happened!

maybe I should have asked for the meds......i wonder if I should start giving him a benadryl a day to see if it goes down

that's a little re-assuring....but why would he have scar tissue there?

Scar tissue can be from previous impacted anal glands or and previous anal gland abcess. Not sure if he has had either in the past?

i don't think he's ever been impacted or abcessed

I don't think benadryl would hurt anything! But hopefully they figure it out.
