LA Rescue stuff
I've been working with a few people on PV and with my friends to get a couple of pugs pulled from shelters.
The one in Lancaster passed away this morning - she had lots of health problems and just couldn't make it.
That leaves 2 more - one boy in Burbank and a girl in Chatsworth - both seniors.
A friend of mine lives about a block away from the Chatsworth shelter and can get the girl. He is not a pug person and has two other dogs that he rescued from client of mine who were going to dump them, but he will keep her for a few days. San Diego Pug Rescue will take her if we can get her down there. I also need to try to get some donation to cover her costs as my friend can't afford it. But, it looks like things are happening with her.
Here's a link to the girl Click me
The Burbank guy I'm still working on. He's OBESE! But he's a nice old guy, He doesn't look 10 to me.
Here's his link.Click me
If this keeps up I think I need to quit my 5 jobs and start a non profit.

I was just thinking this last night when I saw how busy everything was on PV with all this! Is the Chatsworth girl the one that the PV'er in Pennsylvania is trying to get out to her? If so, could she maybe Paypal the adoption fee to spring her?

Re: LA Rescue stuff
Lisa, do you need some transport help? I might be able to help this weekend. Unfortunately, I'm still pretty gimpy but can drive some before the muscles give out. If I can talk Shelly into helping me with Logan, I might be able to do OC to SD if there is someone who can help me put the pug into the car and take the pug out of the car. Can't drive much longer than that with the knee the way it is.
Also, depending on what's going on, I might be able to talk my brother into helping with transport. He's off work this week. Let me know. I wish I could help with funds but I'm tapped out right now. Just spent a couple hundred on my secretary's cats.

Actually, don't you have my cell phone number? Call me. I might be able to rally some help from down here.

Re: LA Rescue stuff
OK, I just spoke to Lisa. Here's the deal.
She can find someone to spring both the Chatsworth female (Petunia) and the Burbank male.
San Diego rescue will likely take them both.
I am working on finding transport to San Diego. We need Chatsworth to Culver City or Chatworth to Long Beach. Then Culver City/Long Beach to San Diego.
It looks like a PV'er will cover the cost to spring Petunia. And the rescue who handled Kimchi (Happy Endings or something) will likely charge the cost to spring the Burbank pug on their credit card. Lisa is going to find out from the rescue how to make donations directly to the rescue to cover the cost of springing the Burbank pug, probably $80-$100 or so. So if anyone wants to kick in $10 or $20, keep checking this thread and Lisa will soon post information on how to donate to that rescue for the Burbank pug.
SAIRA, IS THERE ANY CHANCE YOUR BROTHER CAN TRANSPORT FROM CHATWORTH TO CULVER CITY OR LONG BEACH THIS WEEKEND? If anyone knows someone in the north valley with a car who loves animals, please let us know.
I'm trying to get my brother to do Culver City/Long Beach to San Diego.
We're shooting for this weekend.

If the rescue can apply to Fashionable Fur Babies "Rescue Pals", there would be some funds there. But it has to be a 501c3 who applies. http://www.clothes4pugs.com/rescuepals.html

LOL! I just posted a separate thread asking about this. Thanks Sarina. I just sent this information to Tina with Pugs N Pals. They are drowning in pugs and debt.

Re: LA Rescue stuff
We've got transport covered. A very sweet old friend of mine is going to transport from Chatworth to Long Beach. My brother will do Long Beach to OC. I can do OC to SD.
Lisa is trying to find out more about Petunia. She may be sick and in the hospital to not sure if they will release her. She will post when she knows more.
Burbank male is being sprung as we speak.
Now hopefully, San Diego will be ready to take them on Sunday.
Fingers crossed, folks!

Re: LA Rescue stuff
I am back home now (and in AC!). I'm still trying to get an update on Petunia in Chatsworth. My friend is a GO to pick her up - probably tomorrow morning. I was on hold with them for 45 minutes trying to get an update. I ran through my entire phone battery. At the moment, I have a message in to the Supervisor and I'm hoping she will call me back ASAP. If not, I'll try again in 30 minutes. They close at 5. Keep your fingers crossed that I hear something. She is no longer on their list which concerns me.
Burbank is picked up and is on his way to Culver City. He is a handsome dude, very sweet and VERY fat. (And, he just got a bath so now he's VERY clean and not stinky too.) He is going to his foster home tonight at 7pm.
He was only $49 to spring. Happy Ending Rescue paid for it on their charge card. If you'd like to contribute to his cost, you can make a donation to Happy Ending Rescue http://www.happyendingrescue.org/ Just click on the donation tab and put in the notes that this was for the Burbank pug. This rescue does good work and they have been WONDERFUL in regards to the three pugs that we were trying to spring (plus, they rescue sweet Kimchi.
EDIT: CRAP! My Chatsworth friend just texted me that his wife is now saying they can't foster. (Wife is psycho, btw where husband is as good as gold.) I'll try and avert this little fit. It is 2 fricken days!

Good luck with the crazy lady, Lisa. I talked to Suzi and she has a home for Petunia in Chula Vista. She said she will find a place for Burbank. She will work on it tonight.

Re: LA Rescue stuff
I just left you a VM, Kendie.
The wife is completely psycho, has the mentality of a 9 year old and still listens to her Mother's demands at 30 years old. We'll see if Matt can work something out.
Otherwise, we're going to have to come up with a Plan B (if Petunia is even OK to be released.)

Nice work ladies!
Sorry this wasn't one I could help out on. Thanks for saving the pugs!

Re: LA Rescue stuff
So far, it is only Pug singular. Still some work to do on Petunia.
I don't think I can do rescue any more. It's almost 5 pm, I haven't taken a shower yet today, I've worn down my iPhone battery twice and I'm not done yet!

I've been there, I was there today, I had too much to do for my son and my furbaby that I just had to say no, but you'll be back! I know it!
Good luck with Petunia.

Update on Petunia:
I got to talk to a LIVE person and even a vet tech. The wold must be coming to and end!
Petunia is under observation for her breathing, but she's an older brachy dog and they were just worried about her heavy breathing. She's also stressed, so that's going to make her breathing worse. She is also on Rimadyl for suspected arthritis.
Otherwise, she is available and can be picked up. I was also able to put my name, phone number and the fact that I am trying to bail her out for rescue in the notes so they don't euthanize her.
Now, back to getting her out of there......
Kendie......the person who was going to transport her, can he get her from the shelter?

Thank you Lisa and all involved. You truly are angels to these guys. I am very sorry to hear that the girl in Lancaster passed away. Probably why she was dumped. Poor baby.
