What an emotional roller coaster this thread has been. I'm just now seeing this and wow. What great work everyone did to jump in and get these pugs saved! Then I get to the part of one passing away, then Mr Fats. How sad!! But what a happy ending for Petunia! You guys are wonderful! And yes, this is what rescue is all about. Big hugs to all of you involved!!!!

WOW-at everything that has transpired. I made a donation to Happy Endings and will make one to San Diego Pug Rescue too. Poor Fats and his foster family and everyone involved.

The latest message from Matt said that Petunia was sitting on the couch watching The Lion King on DVD. The second message said: "OMG, Petunia just burped louder than I do!"

I LOVE getting these text updates.

Me too! This was the latest message:

Tonight, Petunia watched 'Nightmare Before Christmas' with Rose and I.

I love Petunia more and more each day.

Wonderful updates! I hope that nasty, too-tight pink dress didn't come with her...

Petunia is on her way to Kendie's after making a stop at my house and meeting Thurston and Kimchi (and Rupert). Kimchi was a little stinker wild thing and had to be restrained by Chris where she screamed as much as she could with no voice. From Kendie's she'll be on her way to San Diego and her foster home.

Matt texted me after she left that he was trying not to cry.

Rupert asks: Is this another one of those pug-cats Mom?

What's going on here, Mom?

Checking out the visitor

My screaming banshee, Kimchi. She reminds me of Nilla the Killa here.

She smells funny.

What great pics, Lisa! So after a 4 hour trip back and forth today, Petunia was safely delivered into the arms of the most wonderful foster family! The foster mom is actually a dog trainer and I was so glad to meet her because she's the one who fostered Pugsley/Niles/Bradley who I sprung from the Orange Central Shelter for both PNP and San Diego about two years ago -- the one who was going to be put down because he was aggressive. And he was aggressive; he tried to kill my boys a couple of times and he was with us only overnight. Anyway, Michelle worked with Bradley for 9 months and he found an awesome home and is doing well. If she could handle Bradley, she can handle any pug.

Petunia has some wonky hip or spine issues but I knew I loved Michelle when she said that after they had Petunia checked out with the vet, she would call her canine acupuncturist. That little girl is definitely in the right foster home. I only snapped a couple of pics before we hit the road, but they were kind of funny.

Passing the sniff test with the smoochieface pugs.

Then the sniff test from the human boy.

I think Logan wanted to keep her. hug dog But Leo wanted nothing to do with her. He kept barking at her and I kept having to reassure him over and over again, "she's not staying." Poor Leo, I don't think he's yet over Logan being born and he thought we were foisting yet another sibling on him. Laughing

Petunia is doing great! Michelle, her foster mom, sent this email last night:

Hi!
Thanks so much for giving her a ride! She seems to be settling in fine, is totally unbothered by the dogs, cat or baby.
She's all tucked in bed now with her blanket, so hopefully she'll have a restful night. You have to admire these old dogs who go through so much and handle it with dignity.
I'll be getting up early to see if I can get her to the vet tomorrow to start working on her collection of medical concerns. Some good food, nice drugs, and perhaps clean teeth and she'll feel like a new dog!
Please pass my thanks along to everyone who helped Petunia in her travels, I'll keep you all updated!

- Michelle
