No more Malaseb shampoo!
Penny and I just got back from her dogtor (allergy issues with major itching)(will be on a separate topic), and I mentioned that I still have some Malaseb shampoo from when she cut her paw. Her dogtor told me to hang on to it like it is gold, because the company that makes it was the only company making miconazole, and they've gone out of business. No more Malaseb. Anyone else heard anything?

Isn't it made by DVM? I can't imagine they are going out of business. They make several prodcuts. I just googled it and could not find anything about them going out of business. I know we (rescue) by it by the gallons and then ration it out to foster homes. The stuff is like gold.

That's what Dr. A said, and she said it was DVM that went flop. Believe me, I'm cherishing my bottle of the shampoo.

Is it the shampoo or are Malaseb wipes part of what the company makes? That stuff is golden too!

I don't know, but I'll ask our dogtor. She wants a call later this week as to how Ms. Thang is doing.

Yes, please let us know what you hear about the Malaseb wipes. That stuff saves Bruno's nose all the time.

This is what I found when I Googled Malaseb. Malaseb products are currently on an indefinite backorder situation from its manufacturer. We apologize for this unfortunate situation, and will resume selling once released.

Oh lordy.. I'll be off to E-Bay to see if I can find it. Bozlee lives by the shampoo, and I used the wipes constantly, too!

Re: No more Malaseb shampoo!
OK GOT THE DISH!!
From an unidentified source, supposedly, what he heard was DVM is under investigation from the FDA but he does not know why. They are not authorized to buy anything from DVM until his higher ups says so.
EntirelyPets.com has the shampoo right now but in larger size. I know they are out of stock on the pledgets. For the rescue, I just purchased 2 - one gallon Malaseb at $119.50 each. Plus right now, it is free shipping over $100. THEN, I saw a promotion for a summer sale (code: LaborDay9 ) and it gave an additional 5% off.
I suggest the rescues who needs it to purchase through them. They currently have around 66 one gallon in stock. I do not know about the smaller bottles. Please get it while it's there. A volunteer of ours who is a vet tech. says the small bottles are on b/o at her office.
Now, this could be gold so if the price is right, I will sell to the highest bidder!!
I'm just kidding!!!

Re: No more Malaseb shampoo!
Thank you, Sharon! I will pass the word to Penny's dogtor. She was very concerned about not being able to get it.

Re: No more Malaseb shampoo!
Malaseb is essential to our rescue. With the heat down here we get A LOT of bad skin cases. Probably 50% of the pugs we take in have some sort of skin issue. We go through about a gallon every 2 months. Lets just hope the FDA can get things cleared up and we can get our products soon. This would not be good. Thanks Sharon for taking care of that purchase tonight...or we would be SOL!!!

Ok I went down to my vet today to see if I could get a few things (ok bought out his stock of pledgets). He told me that DVM has been bought out and the FDA was called in to do an inspection of the new company. Here is a list of alternative products that you can get as of right now:

My Dr. is certain that the products we all love will be back on the market by the end of the year, but as of right now there is no shippment or production.

You're lucky! It's good for yeasty skin conditions. I'm glad that the last time I ordered the pledgets, I got two jars. Sounds like I'd better make them last.
Thanks for the info.

Being in a hot climate, Malaseb is our bet friend down here. I am lucky and dont have to use it often, but it would be my luck that the minute I need it, it wont be there.
