Anyone want to drive from Merced, CA to Vegas?

I committed to taking the little old pug lady in the pound in Merced, but I have been unable to find a hospice home in spite of spending hours on the phone.

Vegas said that they have room, but now comes the hard part...getting her from Merced to Vegas.

Anyone have any ideas???

Roxane, do you know which airport is closest to Merced? I thought I'd look up flights, maybe someone would be willing to escort her here that way!

Can we do a transport team?

If someone wants to drive her down my way I can get her to Barstow and maybe we can get one of the LV gals to meet me there? I can't commit to much more than that since I have Carter and all his therapies, etc, but I will help do a part of it. Most likely I can only do it on a weekday, or MAYBE this coming Sunday.

So when will you have her and do you have people up there that could get her down this way?

I haven't heard anything on this end yet-if it's Sunday, i could possibly meet you in Barstow, if someone can get her down to you.

We are also trying to work out a transport for a pug in Elko, NV this weekend too, in case there are any lurkers from or near Elko.

Sounds good Saira. Other than this Sunday it would have to be a weekday for me so I hope this works out for her. We are oddly not going anywhere this Sunday and I'm free. I'll even do pug transport instead of celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary! Ha!

LoL yeah i know-it's Ken's bday this weekend, but it looks like pug duty calls. If it's not Sunday, I'm not sure if we can find someone, but we are putting emails out to see.

A lady at the shelter wanted to talk to Roxane about the little miss's eyes last we spoke... so I'm not sure if tomorrow is a definite "go" or not. I'm on call!

I'd be willing to escort her to Las Vegas, too, but it would have to be later in the month.

Don't think I didn't think of that!!! I don't know if the San Jose foster can keep her until the middle of October. How fun would it be to go to Pug O Rama!?!

For September, a lot of my Saturdays are booked up, but my Sundays and Mondays are free. But I'm getting ahead of myself! Roxane and I haven't talked again! I don't know what's going on quite yet!

I just want to say Thank you Michael, Roxane and Vegas Pug Rescue!!

Michael I am sending you and Roxane a message on FB-we MIGHT have someone willing to fly down and get her next Friday, if the lady can keep her until then.

UGH...I am SOOOOOOO frustrated!!! I called the shelter as soon as they opened this AM since we had already told them we would take her. The gal checked and said she was still there. But she said the kennel supervisor wanted to talk to me about her eyes. OK, so I gave her my number. I waited and waited, called every 2 hours, just got the gals voice mail. Told her we REALLY wanted her and PLEASE call me. I had Michael call at 4 and she had gone home without calling me!!! I told them our volunteer had taken off work and had to drive down from SF...aaaarrrgggh. I PRAY that they didn't euthanize her because of her eyes. Keep your fingers and paws crossed for her!!!

VERY aggravating. Everything crossed here for the old gal. And thanks to everyone who has tried to help out here.

Fingers, toes, and paws crossed here. I was going to say that Penny and I could do another Driving Miss Molly if it comes to that.

Oh no, I surely hope they didn't euthanize her. If someone, especially a rescue, is willing to take a dog no matter what their health, I don't understand why they do that. So very sad. She'll be in my prayers. Thanks to all of you for trying so hard for her. I hope she's still there.

Oh, what a roller coaster it has been reading this thread! I hope and pry that she is still available. Poor old girl and stupid shelter. Thank you for sticking with this girl, everyone involved. I hope it turns out ok.
