The Frazzle is over!

I just want to thank everyone for all the good advice during my first crazy week with Fia. The second week has started out much more better! Fia is adjusting quickly to the household. She has a much better understanding of my blind girl, Sophie, and generally stays out of her way. Or at least she doesn't get excited and growl when they bump into each other! I took the advice to walk them together and that works out splendidly! And it stopped the bad vibes that came in the door when I took Fia out and Sophie stayed in! Perfect! I've been coming home for lunch the last 2 days so she knows when I leave, I will be back soon. Today, when I came home, I was greeted at the door by three yowling girls! Fia had escaped her gated 'prison' while I was gone and joined the other 2 in the living room! I guess she just didn't want to be by herself, so she made an escape. They all seemed fine with that and you all know the commotion created by happy puglets!
It appears that this girl is settling in beautifully. The first week was darn hard but it is all worth it! We have a wonderful little girl in our midsts that is gonna be a very spoiled girl in no time!

I totally missed you were getting a new pug! So glad things worked out and she's settling in. YAY!!

It's so great to hear that your second week has started better than last week. I bet it's such a relief to you.

Oh Sadie.. You made me cry tears of happiness reading your post! Fia is so beautiful, and I KNEW you would love her. I am glad she is working her way into your 'pack'.

She IS gorgeous! I love that picture! I'm happy to hear that things have settled down & everyone is getting along now.

Good news. Girls are tough. And I always have a week where who ever is new doesn't "get" that Hazel can't see them and isn't slamming into them deliberately. Usually after a week they learn that it isn't an attack.

Yes! That was exactly the problem. Sophie just couldn't help but bump into her to check her out! Now Fia has the idea and she mostly stays out of her way, except when everybody is excited and then it's just singin' and jostlin' but she doesn't growl anymore, that I've heard! Poor Sophie just wanted to sniff her new sister! Tough Love I guess!

Well, we made it though the week, as I went to work but came home every day for lunch to check. I still keep a pretty close watch on them. I braved it and let Fia stay ungated on Wed and they did fine until that night when we were home. I ended up breaking up 2 fights! And I stopped a 3rd growl that would've gone further. It wasn't a good night. So Fia is back in the room, with a gate, altho it can't be my baby gate, cuz she actually jumps over that! So I have a higher fence to put up and hopefully she won't ever try to jump it, cuz it's a metal one and could hurt to land on. If I'm here, I watch them and make sure they behave. The sight of the spray bottle seems to stop Fia from any growling. Otherwise, we're doing ok. Time will make these girls better friends. Until then, we're careful friends!

I'm sure that in time Sophie, Susy and Fia will be happy campers with only the rare
sibling tiff! Bear still gets annoyed with Frankie, who is blind, when he bumps into him. They growl, then growl some more, then ignore each other. Then, when they are done with their pout, they snuggle together for a nap!
