Re: Help! Penny ate chocolate!
Oh Penny! You gave your mother quite a scare. Glad to hear you've returned the chocolate to your mother.
I guess these black divas never stay out of trouble, even as they get older? Oh my!

Brenda wrote:how do you do the hydrogen peroxide? with a syringe? just wondering if I ever need it in the future. Glad Miss. Penny's got it out of her system!
I'd probably use a syringe and put it in the corner of their mouth between the lip and gum. Prying the mouth open and using a household teaspoon doesn't work very well (or so I've heard

I've also heard a paper cup isn't efftective.

If I had to bet, though, I'd guess that a paper cup isn't as messy with Pepto Bismol as a teaspoon.

I hope you both got some good rest last night and Penny is feeling well. Darn these black pugs!!
One Christmas my SIL's shih tzu got into a box of Frango mints, they had to take him to the ER vet and have his stomach pumped, good grief!!

Re: Help! Penny ate chocolate!
Getting the peroxide down her, in retrospect, was hilarious. NOT at the time, though. Here I am, sitting in the bathroom on the throne, with a chuffed pug in my lap, trying to hold her mouth open and pour a tablespoon full of peroxide down her throat. I think she got about half of it on the first dose, and most of it on the second dose. After cleaning up, we sat in the easy chair in the living room. She slept. I didn't. Finally went to bed at 2 am. She slept. I didn't. Or at least I woke up with every snort and snore and twitch. Of course, she had to have some dreams about running or something like that. So she slept. I didn't. Today, she is her bossy diva self, lecturing me on how to fix her breakfast. Hi, I'm Penny. I'm naughty. Can I borrow Tallullah's naughty necklace?

So out of curiosity, how long after the second dose did she empty?
I am glad she is better, she's not naughty, just an opportunist! Co-Pilot was trying to get into my Atkins bars I brought home from Target the other morning, I mean I set one load of bags in the house and went out to get another and she had the box of bars out of the grocery sack, little buggers! I mean I can barely stand those nutritional bars, what would she want with them? But I am sure they would make her very very sick.

Oh, wow, that must have been really frightening, Nancy. I'm glad she's better now. These pugs are little terrors when it comes to chomping down on what they shouldn't have. Just what you needed when you're only starting to feel alive again yourself, huh. Sheesh.
Treat yourself to a nice, long, hot bubble bath. (But put Penny under lock and key while you do that!)

I put her on the floor, she heaved twice, and barfed a bunch of chocolate, bile, peanuts, and rice thingies from the Krispy bar, I guess. Not a pretty picture, especially when she wanted to eat it!

Re: Help! Penny ate chocolate!
My mother in laws spaniel mix craves chocolate. She smells it in the air and she goes nuts! I've had her try to pin me down and take the chocolate out of my mouth. She tries to steal the wrapper and licks and smells them. Learned to put the chocolates under lock and key because of that dog. She would be the danger case at the chocoholics meetings.
Glad penny is better.

So glad the boss is back to her usual charming (er demanding) demeanor.
I slept much like you, everytime he moved I woke up to feel his face and see if it was still normal, all while he snored and snuffled without a care in the world. I haven't been worth a flip today
but he's sassy as always.
They sure do not mind taking a toll on our personal mental state one iota it seems.
I wish for you a nice restful nights sleep tonight to encourage continued healing, which this was surely not an incident conducive to such.
Miss Penny :: Please behave yourself and no more frights for mother like that.

Sarah, thank you.
Drago, stay away from stingy things. Your momma needs a good night's sleep, too.

Re: Help! Penny ate chocolate!
You are not going to believe this, but she tried it again last night! Heard a rustling sound, and she had gotten the bowl of Howloween candy off the table and was pawing through it, trying to decide what she wanted (sheesh, what a diva!).
Got it away from her before she was able to eat anything. Howloween candy is now behind closed doors.
