We Couldn't Turn Our Back On This One!

Post  HK Pugs on 11/19/2009, 6:03 pm

We closed the Rescue this year and as many of you know it was a hard and heart breaking decision; well, I think there is still a Pug in need of our help.

Vicki sent me an email saying "What do I do?" and attached a picture of a pug in the
Emporia Shelter! She knew that I wouldn't be able to say No, but it was basically up to her because she would be the foster home. She then followed the email with a call. I told her he looked like Billy and I couldn't say no to that face, but it was up to her. Phone call two was her telling me that he had 72 hours and they were sure he was the missing Pug from a very abusive home, in the county, because he fit the description. The pug had been beaten and abused so badly that he can't walk. Well, what do you think we're going to do? I pretty sure we will be heading to Emporia after work tomorrow! This county has few laws against animal abuse so the owners won't be fined or prosecuted. Below is the picture Vicki sent me!

Oh Kathy. That picture just breaks my heart. Do you need a donation to help out? That's a stupid question to ask a rescue, isn't it? Do you have Paypal?

I just burst into tears when I saw the fear and terror in his eyes. Look at his body, you can tell how badly he's beaten. Why do people do this - WHY? I know noone can answer that, but I still have to ask. Bless you Kathy, and bless Vicky. My heart just breaks. I hope you can make him well and he can trust again. And most importantly I hope he finds the best home ever for Christmas.

OOoooo my , that poor little muffin.
I agree with Rona, WHY?.. I know I know but still.
If he is indeed the missing pug in the county you mentioned, he needs to stay "missing" as far as those people know, either way, I hope the person(s) who did this to him never find out he was even found by anyone and someday their actions sneak up on them in the worst of ways.
Bless you and Vicki. Praying that you're able to save him and make him whole and happy again.

This makes me want to cry-for the pug and for rescue. It also makes my want to go out and hurt someone for doing this to a pug or any animal. WTF is wrong with people????????

Thank you so much for helping this little guy, I know that he will repay the kindness shown to him 1000x over in pug hugs!

My heart is aching for that poor little creature. So sad. Bless you for taking him in. Soon, he will lose the fear and sadness and learn what being a pug is truly supposed to be.

Ye gods. That sad and despairing, but still hopeful, little face; that broken little body. I think this is probably one of the most heartbreaking photos I have ever seen. Please, someone, give him a cuddle from me.

That poor little guy. I can't believe someone can beat any living, breathing animal. It is just beyond me. Thank you for taking him in. I'd love to know how he does once he's in a warm loving home.

That photo just breaks my heart. I can't believe that someone has the audacity to do something like. Poor lil guy. I am glad someone is taking him in. I hope that they give him a great home and show him that love exists. My heart goes out to him. I would take him in in an instant if i could. that is probably one of the saddest photos i have ever seen. :*(
