found a lump on Natasha's back leg :(

I took Natasha to the vet today for a funny looking lump on her back leg. The vet took a pre-biopsy of it, but she suspects it's a mast cell tumor.

Who here has dealt with this? I know it's common in pugs. I'm just praying it's a stage 1. We'll find out the results tomorrow or Wednesday.

No information here, just a huge prayer that it is a cyst or, if it is a mast cell tumor, it is Stage 1 with clean margins.

No experience from me, either, but hoping that the biopsy report is benign.

LOTS of experience with them here, unfortunately. Dealt with them from barely grade 1 to grade 2 - 3 requiring chemo. All Pugs survived with no recurrences. The main thing is early detection with quick removal and the all-important "clean margins" which is most readily achieved if the lump is in a fleshy area.

The thing to remember Amy, is that the overwhelming, VAST majority of pugs that go through these procedures do so without too much trouble and little or no after-effects. The ones that experience the not-so-good results and recurrences are a small percentage. I am sure Natasha will be fine. Please keep us updated.

I haven't had personal experience, but we, unfortunately, have had a few pugs come through rescue that have had MCTs. One now had one removed, and it was a grade 1, clean margins-many months later, he is doing fine. Fingers crossed here too.

Good news good news good news!!!!!

It is not an MCT. The biopsy didn't show any traces of cancer.

SO, the vet thinks it might be a benign cyst or even an inflamed bug bite. We'll put an antibiotic cream and a steroid cream on it. If it seems to be bothering her or it gets worse, we'll go back.

So thankful that my Tisherbean is gonna be okay. :) I was really worried.
