On the topic of people moving....

We got a call today from a couple who were moving from their house into an apartment and couldn't take their pug with them. Come to find out, the pug is 9 years old and has lived OUTSIDE his entire life, never been to a vet and lived in a doghouse.

It's in the 30s here today and raining. A volunteer went to go get him and lo and behold there are two dogs, but supposedly the daughter is taking the other one. Our volunteer said they poor dogs were just shivering and soaking wet. The idiots had the gall to say "we're dog people"!! WTF?

I am just glad he's safe and warm now even if it's in a vet clinic. Supposedly he's sweet as can be and was giving kisses to everyone. I bet he's pretty happy!

Oh bloody hell. Poor dogs. Glad you've got him and FINALLY he'll live a happy life.

What is wrong with people!! I'm glad you guys had room and were able to help, poor guy!!

We don't have room really. But, I'd rather board him than have him out in this cold weather.

What a sin for that poor baby. What is wrong with people! I am so glad he is safe and warm now.

We just went through a move to Boston and we are renting until our condo sells in NJ. It was not even an option to look for an apt that didn't allow pets. There were just as many pet friendly places as places that didn't allow pets.

I honestly don't know how someone can do that. In this case that was a good thing to give up their pug since they obviously didn't care about his well being.

I've said it before & I'll say it again...people suck! I'm so glad that you guys are able to help him. We'll be sending prayers for a successful heartworm treatment & a happy ending for this poor fellow.

I always find it funny when people say they can't take the dogs with them. I've moved from TX to IL with Pugsly and Taz. We moved from the Chicago suburbs to northern IL near WI. We then moved from IL to TN with three pugs. I even sent my husband to Chicago ahead of me, and he bought the house without my seeing it. I told him what I wanted, and it needed a fenced yard so he found one. All I needed was for my babies to have a fence!

We had a saying at the shelter where I volunteered. Whenever someone dropped off their pets due to moving, we would say "oh, Arkansas doesn't accepts pets?"

Luckily this guy is mild HW positive. How that happened, I don't know, but am thankful.

I'd be willing to bet that the dog that the daughter is taking is HW positive too. I hope that she gets it tested & treated.

It is a never ending cycle.

How very sad :( I'm so glad you guys took him in, even if he has to be boarded. Like you said, much better than where he was.
