It is almost like Lucky wanted to come home with the new puppy and welcome him into our home. It might sound silly but I think Lucky had some doing in this knowing that his family and his special boy was missing him so much. Ruger mimics a lot of Lucky's odd behaviors that we loved so very much and made him so unique. I feel we have a little piece of Lucky living in Ruger.

You know, that does not surprise me at all. I don't try to understand things like that, I just accept them as gifts.

What Nancy said. Excellent.

I have come to just accept that Ruger was brought to us by the grace of God and by Lucky. I actually could see Lucky plotting a plan with his silly little head cocked to the side, his tail wagging, and his snaggle tooth smile on how to help us out. Thats once thing I can say about Lucky, on the worst days he would bring a smile to your face. I thank him now for Ruger.
Only prob so far I see with Ruger is the vet thinks he is only 6wks old or so. God knows how long he has been away from his mamma and his front legs are kind of shaky at the pasterns and somewhat bow out a little when he sits and shake pretty good. Not sure if that could be due to his age. Ive been thinking about taking him back into the vet to see what they think about it but thought I might get some opinions really quick. They say 5-6wks on age...so I hope he grows out of it.
Other than that in just a few short days Ruger has learned to go into his crate when he wants to sleep ON HIS OWN :):):):) and when he has to go potty he whines to let us know. Not one accident in the house! He is sooooo smart.

He's a cutie, but after reading about what age the vet thinks he is, I'd probably get a second opinion from another vet about his health and age. It can't hurt.

Do you know anyone with pugs who might take theirs to a more experienced pug-vet?

I agree with MJ, Sophie was dumped at a young age due to medical issues so I am just extra wary and cynical about people, especially when they dump a dog that young. You might want to check with the local rescue to see if they know of a vet around you, the good thing about vets the rescue uses is they tend to be very familiar with pugs!

Good luck, I am glad he is in a good home!

The vet that I use is a wonderful husband and wife team that deal with all types of animals. They even travel to Africa to work on wildlife that is injured and local zoo's also. I will call them and ask them if they know a specialist as I know they won't be offended as they are the nicest people there and dont charge a fortune for medical help. Ive used them for ten+ yrs now and they have saved many of my animals but I do think a 2nd opinion wouldnt hurt.
The shaking in the front end isnt horrible. It doesnt happen when he stands but when he sits he leans on them funny but then again he is so very tiny yet.
He goes in for his first set of shots this week so I will bring it up to my vet as a concern because they very well might have not seen it since he wasnt sitting. So we will go from there. As I am hoping it is nothing as Lucky's prior vet bills are still coming in left and right and we sure as heck arent a rich family.

I am so sorry about your loss. It's funny how things work out sometimes. Ruger and your son are adorable!
My boy Logan was going to be thrown in a dumpster. I can't even comprehend how people can be so rotten towards animals. We think Logan was maybe 7 weeks old when I picked him up and was soooo teeny tiny and soooo skinny. He is 2 years old now and the most wonderful cuddly little peanut.

I cannot believe how people can just dump a poor defenseless animal, let alone a pug puppy!!!!! Im so thrilled with Ruger. He is sooooo very smart! In less than a week he is completely crate trained, potty trained and has learned what the word no means. He has made this transition so easy thankfully! We are all happy finally. We still miss Lucky terribly still. But part of Lucky lives on in Ruger :)

It just makes my heart feel warm and happy as I read about little Ruger and how you found him. So wonderful that your son is again smiling with his pug puppy. The pictures are just perfect. I do so hope it works out that Ruger is just growing into himself and nothing is wrong with thd health of this new baby.

Rugers vet appointment when well. The most we confirmed was his umbilical cord hernia but the least of our worries. The front leg shaking and folding is a mild concern to our vet. She wants us to keep a close eye on it as he is so young and developing tendon and ligament strength. She had up lower his amount of food at feedings and up how often he is fed in case of hypoglycemia which could pertain to his front leg shakes. He seems to be doing better on it but if he doesnt apply much pressure to it, that is when it happens to shake or fold back. She felt the bone there to make sure we didnt have a deformity and said that is felt great. So we are watching it until his next series of shots to see how it goes.

Other than that he is a happy obnoxious puppy who thinks he has to kill people's feet as they walk by or that pant legs are evil LOL. He has brought back so much laughter in our home and hearts. I thank Lucky daily for our blessing in disguise!

If he really is possibly 6 weeks old, then he should probably be getting four meals a day. Three at a minimum--of a good quality puppy food. And I'd be careful with vaccinating him this young. 6 weeks is pretty young for a first set of vaccines. But he may be 8 weeks by now (sorry, I've lost track of how long you've had him).

He's very cute and I'm glad he's landed with you.

Ruger was 7 1/2 weeks when he got his first series. He seems to still be doing ok on it, a tad bit shaky but regardless we love him and we still watch it. We were feeding him three-four times a day of BLUE dog food. I dont feed pedigree or garbage :) Blue is all natural and corn/wheat/garbage free. He is up to six smaller feedings in about three hour increments if not more and seems to be doing well and also helping with him hold his pottying better for longer spans.

I really hope its nothing. I cant deal with another issue after Lucky and so soon for that fact. There are still unpaid vet bills coming in left and right.
