Re: Dawn is getting adopted
As everyone else has already said, Donna, no, it doesn't get any easier. On a number of occasions in the past I have driven home in tears, and I'm not generally given to weeping! But try to think of it this way; you've done an absolutely fantastic job with Dawn, getting her ready for her new life. Congratulations and hugs to you both!

YAY for Dawn.
Some are harder to let go of than others, but they all take a piece of you with them. I often have dogs that are with me for long periods of time--months, so that makes letting them go harder.
It doesn't get easier, really, but you do adjust to the fact that you've done the job required--to get this small creature into good enough shape to live on their life with their forever people. And that's no small accomplishment.

I don't know why I said it get easier, I can't imagine not feeling sad when they leave. I might be fostering her sister next, I'll find out on Sunday.

UGH, had to postpone her adoption till next week, we got another small snow storm, so did the person who is adopting her, I'm coming from Albany to Vermont, shes coming from New Hampshire to Vermont all three states have a winter advisory for today.
A little frustrating, not that I don't want to keep her around for a while but I got her bag all packed up and had a few more cries, now I have to do it all over again.

Nope never gets easier. I also find that I can have one a week or 5 months and I still turn into a sniveling mess each time. Sorry for the delay, that is hard too. Try taking one all the way to Alaska and having to leave her there. I knew she was going to be in a great home, but it will always break your heart.

She got a spa day yesterday, I bathed her then she went to a meet up and had her nails trimmed.
She did really well at the meet up, broke out of her shell a bit.
I just feel so badly that she will have to go through this all over again with her new mom but I am hoping she will be better prepared this time around.
Kudos to all you that have been doing this for so long, it takes a strong person.
Luckily my girlfriend will be able to go with me on Sunday, she said she is bringing the kleenex.

Donna, I only had Tinker overnight, and then went to meet her foster family at the park yesterday. She kept coming up to me, wanting me to pick her up, and tried to follow me when I left. I started crying in the car because I felt bad for her, and I only had her one day! The good news is, the family just sent me a message on how well she was doing. It's hard not to get attached to the little guys, no matter how long you have them.
I am glad your friend is going with you!
