Abercrombie is sicky-bug
My foster, Abercrombie, is not feeling well. He hasn't been eating much since he came into rescue, about 2 weeks ago, but we thought it was just the tough transition. So, Rowdy (my earlier foster) went back to Vickie's daycare, and Abercrombie came home with me. Since he is an elderly pug, we thought it best for him to be in a home to be cared for.
Well, I've had him now since Sunday. In that whole time, he has eaten maybe 4 meals. I even made him some white rice, and he ate some but not all of it. He has had some diarhea (sp?) and his urine is bright yellow. I'm worried for him! I think he threw up in his crate yesterday too.
He's going to see the vet today for blood work. Please spare a thought that it is only a virus. Polar Pug Rescue is strapped due to Sherman's surgery....I'm afraid what will happen if Abercrombie is seriously sick.
He doesn't know why he's in rescue. After 11 years with the same family, being surrendered must be so confusing for him.

Hopefully he'll be okay. Sometimes the older ones will get dehydrated and will get puney before you know it. Maybe some fluids will get him back up to par. Give the poor little guy a hug from us.

Poor Ab! I hope he feels better soon. A bug ran thru my gang a few weeks ago, they all got it one at a time... But that was before Abercrombie came into rescue.

poor guy - and poor you! here's hoping it's something that's easily remedied and he's feeling like new again soon.

I don't know if you can see this picture, so I will post the link, also.

Awww my heart aches for these older rescues who loose their homes and have no clue what is going on. They must be so confused and lonely.

Update:
Mr Abercrombie has decided to feel better, at least for the vet he did. She did some blood work and a urine test. It all came back clear, and he did eat a little if she was hand feeding him....so, nothing wrong, except maybe a broken heart. He is laying at my feet right now. I guess at meal time, I will take him into another room and see if he'll eat if I hand feed him. After she got him to eat, then he was feeling really good, tail wagging and happy. Who knows, maybe he is used to the vet, and felt a little more comfortable there about eating? I was just so happy to see him eat some food and get his spirits picked up.
Mj - thanks for posting the picture. He really is a sweet old man.

What a sweet guy! I think he need some serious love to help him get over his loss. He's probably depressed! I know I would be! His face makes my heart hurt.

Oh, what a darling old chap.
I fear you may be right, Renee, about the broken heart. It's just so, so sad when these oldies come into rescue. Always breaks my heart, too.

Hmmm.. Maybe the vet needs to adopt him? Sounds like a match made in heaven. *LOL*

Mr. Abercrombie has such a sweet face! I'm so glad that he is eating. I can't imagine how confused and sad he is.

So, yesterday Abercrombie ate some of the food the vet gave him, and I was very encouraged. This morning when I tried to feed him again, he wouldn't have any of it still. Now, I feed a good food, Hollistic Select, which my gang loves, but Mr Ab just didn't want it. So, while I was at the vet with my Ichiro (see other thread), I picked up a bag of thier food, the t/d Science Diet...and wouldn't you know: That Stinker Ate it Up!!
This whole time, I was thinking he was so sick, feeling depressed...and really, he just doesn't like organic food, hehe!! Gotta love him!So, I think, in short, he is doing better.
