I know that you can use Pepcid for dogs, but immodium is another thing and I wouldn't risk it without talking to a vet.

I'd start with feeding a small meal of overcooked rice, boiled chicken and maybe some pumpkin before trying human meds.

I have used Immodium on dogs in the past - and was instructed to do so by a vet. Since then, I have used it as needed. Pumpkin usually works just as well (and as fast) but for a pug-sized dog, I would give 1/2 of a tablet. Larger dogs can handle a full tablet.

We also feed rice and potatos, then add chicken if he starts to get better. Not my favorite, but Hill's makes an I/D wet food that basically has nothing in it but binders -- we break that out for the bad cases, and that usually means someone is also on prescription flagil.

I learned (when both boys got sick the first week of school in Sept.) that you can give 1 mg. of Immodium (which is 1/2 a tablet) for about 22 lbs of dog.

Exactly right, 1/2 tab of immodium for a pug. I have used it several times, vet has approved. If you end up giving 1/2 a few times over several hrs. you will find the poop once it begins again, will be black. Not to worry. Pepto bismol works too, but messy. On the immodium, if you get that quick dissolve stuff, it is so easy, just have to get it somewhere in the mouth, gone in a split second!

They also have an I/D kibble too. We tried the kibble and the wet with Jewel, plus the baby foods before the feeding tube was inserted.
