Holy crapola!!! I can't believe how much you made. That is awesome! Where was it? Do you think the location helped? I was just paying some SEPRA bills and it's not good. We are going broke again.

That is so totally awesome Maryjo. congratulations!!

That gives me and idea for when we have another ever. We have quite a few cake decorating volunteers.. I think I will ask each to bake a pug related cake or something like that...I love bidding wars!!

Latest news....

Post  Maryjo on 3/18/2010, 5:01 pm

Vickie got a letter with a check enclosed from Kujo's mom. I've mentioned Kujo before because he is the tallest pug (But Beau out-weighed him in his prime) at our summer pug parties. Kujo loves to come to the summer pug parties, but they never get time to get to the winter ones.

Anyway... Shirley (Kujo's mom) had seen the notice in the paper for our bake sale, and since she couldn't get in, but wanted to help Sherman, she sent a check...

Drum roll please...

The check was for $500.00!!! Isn't this wonderful? Now we have a buffer in the checking acount!!

I am just flattened by the generosity of people through this whole thing. <<<tears in my eyes...

Wow MJ - that is awesome! People really do come through!

I need to meet this Kujo - I thought my Ichiro was the tallest pug.

Oh Maryjo! That is so wonderful!!!! I'm so thrilled for Sherman and Polar Pug Rescue. You've got some really good folks up there.

p.s. the silent auction is such a fabulous fundraising idea. I've never seen it done for a bake sale before but can see how much fun it would be. I just passed your idea onto the two rescues down here.

I don't think we'd have made half the money we did with a straight bake sale. *LOL* And the people were having lots of fun out-bidding each other!

Maryjo, they LOVED your idea! SD is already making plans to hold a similar one. Kudoes on your fundraising creativity up there!

Cool!!! Tell them what worked best was making up packages with several baked items in each package. Then we wrapped and ribboned them up 'pretty'... I have pics, I'll try to remember to post them tonight.

I didn't realize your silent auction was actually for the baked goods - that IS a good idea!!! Also, where did you hold it? You had to have a good bit of traffic too, right?

I can see where the silent auction would help. Much like the reason ebay is successfull..... I want to WIN!!!! The competition kicks in.

It was down at the doggy daycare where we hold all the winter pug parties. I had it listed in the 'calendar' section of the newspaper, on Craigslist, and I sent it out as the usual announcement with our pug party Yahoo group. I hear (I was working the pug party crowd and wasn't on the bake sale side) that we got people from all advertisement sources, plus friends & clients of Vickie's (she owns the daycare), plus friends and co-workers from Linda's job & sorority, too!

Here are a few of the tables (I think there were four or five tables all together):
