Stray Pet Mecca...
DH leaves to walk the dogs. Head count = 2.
DH returns from back yard. Head count = 4.
Wait, what???
Well, duh. Apparently we live in Stray Dog Mecca.
They come from all neighborhoods, to hang out in our kitchen and be featured in our legendary ksl.com ads. (Ad: "Found dog(s). You tell me what you lost and I'll tell you if it's what we found."). Some are repeat guests, some are easily recognized as belonging to friends and neighbors, and others are complete strangers, hoping to make new friends.
In accordance with the local custom, we slipped them into extra harnesses and paraded them up and down the block, hoping to find their family. With no luck, we took them home and put them on the internet. Let all beware, strangers may take your picture and put it on the internet with a personal ad! But, hey, it's tradition!
As the frantic lady on the other end of the phone exclaimed, just five minutes after we'd posted the ad and before DH could say a word, "Youfoundourdogs! Oneisbigandoneissmall! Oneisblackandoneissalt-and-pepper! OneisnamedZoe! I'msohappy! Youfoundourdogs!!!"
Yup, that's them, all right!
And so, without further ado, I present to you tonight's featured pilgrims: A pair of miniature Schnauzers!

One big, one small. Both very cute, very barky, and very cuddly.

Happy Friday and Safe Travels to all Pilgrims!

Good job, Jen!! I am sure Gracie and Jack were thrilled when they left, however.
Re: Stray Pet Mecca...
Gracie is really sad. She thought I'd gotten her a pet! She's dying for friends to play with. She finds Jack to be a bit of a disappointment in the playmate department!

Would she like Sophie for a few days?
Re: Stray Pet Mecca...
LOL. Schnauzers always look like ministers from a particularly severe scottish Presbyterian sect getting ready to rebuke the flock.
Well done, Jen and Husband.

She would love it! As for the rest of us, I don't know that we have the energy! Maybe we will just have to visit!

I love Schnauzers! They are very smart but VERY "chatty"! These two are especially cute. Good work!

I'll gladly send you my next door neighbor's Schnauzer, Freddie. I prefer to call him Mr. Barky Bark. He never shuts up!!
Great job finding their home.

Re: Stray Pet Mecca...
Its funny, we kept getting this stray lab from two streets over, and posting him on a local news page's classified ads section always got a response w/in an hour. So, lost pets now immediately go on ksl and craigslist, rather than going to the pound. Haven't had to send one to the shelter yet!

Re: Stray Pet Mecca...
You must live in a nice neighborhood! LOL! The strays we get are ones that are sick who people dump in the park instead of ponying up to take them to the vet. Or the occasional pit bull/pit bull mix that has gotten out of a fence or broken off a chain and is happily escaping their previous shitty owners. If some does "lose" a pet, we have an google group where we send out alerts and someone usually chimes in that their kid brought home a new pet that just happens to be their neighbor's beloved Maltesse!

That is too funny! The Schnauzers are very cute - my late sister and brother-in-law had one, and he was Mr. Busy Pants.

Min. Schnauzers
Seeing those pictures brought back memories of when I raised M.S. I had 4 Champions plus a couple more finished in Japan. My daughters loved them and showed them in obedience. I sold two to Bill Cosby years ago, one for his mom in Philadelphia and one for his family in Beverly Hills. He later got into show dogs and had some great ones. I am not terribly fond of the breed due to their noisiness but I did have several who are my forever heart dogs. Sheila, Flower Boy, Jackie and Danny were wonderful and quiet loving dogs. This was way back in the 60's and 70's and I got out of raising dogs when I decided there were way too many other dogs needing homes and I didn't need to add to the problem. I sold a couple of generations of my breeding to several folks. One daughter is now involved in Giant Schnauzers, some of which I co own with her but none live with me (thank dog).
