How could this guy be a stray??

Post  Maryjo on 3/22/2010, 11:50 pm

I don't understand it.. Anchorage is NOT that big of a town, we do not have a surplus of pugs so that they can just be running around loose without someone noticing.

This guy was listed at the pound for a week in their 'lost dog' section. To give them their due, the pound tries its damnedest to find the owners of stray dogs.

When the week was up, they called Vickie to come get him. She picked him up yesterday, I took pics today. We're calling him 'Capone'.

He weighs 29 lbs, is very healthy, about 3-4 years old and neutered. I wish I could know what happened to him that he was running loose in the streets.

Slightly fluffy. *LOL*

He looks worried in this shot:

Looking for a treat:

He'll find a forever home very quickly...

Oh, I'm in love. I think he needs to come to Casa de Reneé.

I think he and Abercrombie would make a good team! I'd love for someone to adopt them together.

Amazing that his owners aren't tearing the town apart looking for him! Thankfully he's safe now and his forever home is just around the corner. Have you checked with all the meet-up groups?

Maybe someone drove to your town and dumped him, people do that all the time in the country.
He is a handsome boy, hopefully someone will snatch him up in a second.

He sure looks like he's from a home that fed him well. Hopefully he will find a new home quickly and won't need his "worried look" anymore.

What a handsome fellow!!! Makes me sad wondering why he's not with his family. If he did just get away this is an excellent case for microchipping.

Yup, no microchip, no nothing... My scenario is his owner died, and the relatives dumped him. He's so handsome I doubt if there will be any problem finding him a great home.

It could well be that he was dumped, couldn't it? Poor boy, and he does look worried. Hope he finds a lovely forever home.

That seems to be the case most of the time, sadly. We got 2 pugs from the shelter this week-gorgeous puggies, and no one claimed them. Glad you guys have him, he's so handsome!!

Poor baby! I'm sure he's very confused. I also thought perhaps he could have gotten away from a family on vacation but would think in that scenario they'd check with the humane society. Does anyone vacation in Alaska in March??

I don't know if any vacationers are here at the moment. Most people should avoid Alaska in March- too messy! The main place to call if you've lost a dog here in Anchorage is the municiple Pound. They are really user-friendly and try their best to find the owners of strays...

The poor puppet will get a new home soon. He's too cute!
