Don't steal her, but do talk to them about it. Maybe they don't have time for her any more, and you can get her out of a bad situation.

You could sugar-coat it: "Oh, I LOVE your dog, and I notice she doesn't go inside any more. If you don't have time for her I woud love to have her live with me." Or other such words. (I'm not too good with words).

You can always find a 'forever' home for her if you decide to not keep her. She shouldn't be outside all day!

MJ, I have definitely thought about talking to the owners about her, but I would have to knock on their door and get them outside. Only once did I see the pug with the owner and they were walking down the sidewalk...a young mother with 2 small girls. They were pulling one of those suitcases on wheels and walking towards the elementary school on a Monday morning. My automatic assumption is that the girls are part of a one week on/off access with another parent. Then I don't see the pug for a week and I wonder where she goes with the pug. Its weird...and I'm pretty nosy obviously. I would take her though - she is sweet. My pug sitter lives about 6 houses down and she has gone up to the pug with her pug and nobody has come out for 30 minutes that she has been there. Its weird what people do.

Maybe this girl pug could accidentally get loose. You would *have* to save her. I wonder how long it would take for them to notice? How sad when a pug (or any dog!) gets treated like an object.
