Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
It's raining JRT/Pug mixes. I've already got one in care, have had emails or phone calls about four others. I have NO space and we don't have great luck with finding homes for them--although we've been lucky to some degree.
I'm SO tired of these poor mixes getting dumped as soon as people get tired of them or find out they are some work.
Crumbs.

I feel for you, Blanche.... Up here it is still puggles, but Alaska is always several years behind everyone else when it comes to trends.
I hope your luck continues with finding homes for them.

Re: Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
We don't see Puggles much anymore--thankfully. That was a nightmare mix. The Jugs we've had have all been great dogs, but busy, busy, busy.Maryjo wrote:I feel for you, Blanche.... Up here it is still puggles, but Alaska is always several years behind everyone else when it comes to trends.

Re: Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
Yep, I don't remember any jrt/pug mixes up here, but plenty of puggles. Hmm..., hey MaryJo, what is that one that always comes to the parties, Bella? Is she a chia-pug?
Re: Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
I am still seeing mostly Chugs and Puggles at the shelters around here (with the occasional anomaly mix) . I'm not sure I've eber met a jug.

Yes, Bella is a chia-pug, but she came up from Oregon last year. She's not originally from Alaska.

Oh why did I thinks this was going to be a thread about breasts?
I truly am ashamed.
Sorry. Return to your discussion about about canine Jugs.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only immature person on this board. The first thing I thought also was, "oh, boobies."
I'm wondering if Jugs are more prevalent in your area? Haven't seen or heard of any Jugs around here, either. Mostly still puggles and chugs, but more puggles than anything else. Hopefully, the Jug craze won't catch on down here.

Re: Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
I knew Rona and Kendie would think "boobs" when I entitled it Jugs. Couple of kindergartners.....
We don't see many Chugs either--thankfully--another mix that often has aggression issues.
The "trendy" mixes up here that I'm sure we'll soon see in rescue are bulldog/pug mixes and Ori-Peis (Shar Pei/pug mixes).

Me too DeeAnn, I couldn't imagine life without them.
Blanche, I do wonder if there is a demand for jugs (heh heh) in your area. We still see mostly puggles, with a few chi/pugs mixed in. The puggles are out of control, I feel so bad for them, they need their own rescue to deal with all their issues.
Re: Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
Blanche you could run and add jugs jugs lots of jugs and see how many men will answer you ...LOL just a little joke

I like that! Might be just the ticket to get some adoptions going!

Are men more attracted to Jugs over Chugs and Bugs?

If you want to know what a jug is like (the canine variety, Rona), just remember Gidget, the Princess of Weird, the jug who ate anything, bounced for six hours straight, and nearly drove Peg out of her mind.

Re: Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
We rarely get pugs or pug mixes in rescue in my immediate area.
The only one we have right now is a pug-min pin mix in a rescue i don't work with, she has a pending on her.
On kijiji though the big thing is Bugs. We had a minor surge of Puggles, but Bugs still hold more popular. I've seen a handful of jugs too though... No idea why you'd mix any of those breeds with pugs, it serves no purpose for anything.
We've only ever had one pug come through the humane society here and he was there because of the person's how catching fire and them not being able to keep any dogs. He was adopted right away (almost by me, but my mum doesn't fancy boy dogs and neither do i really).

I just read the title of this thread out loud to Chris. His response was "INDEED! You're talking about teenage male fantasies now?"

I had no idea what Jug was, until I googled it. Interesting....I don't think I've seen any in my neck of the woods.
The stuff I learn...amazing...Thank You!

Re: Jugs, Jugs, everywhere
Beats me why we see so many JRT/Pug crosses, but we do. We see some Bugs--but not many and they often have behavioural issues as well. The BT rescue up here says they have huge problems with Bugs and aggression.MandyPug wrote:We rarely get pugs or pug mixes in rescue in my immediate area.

And you don't care for the boys, huh? Interesting. I love my girls, but given the choice, I'll take a boy every time. I find them much more low key and pliable. My girls give me a run for my money in the attitude department.
