We get the most unusual dogs in our rescue...

Post  Maryjo on 6/14/2010, 10:36 pm

As most of you know, our pug rescue often takes in other breeds of small dogs whe we are able. We can handle a few miscellaneous dogs, too.

This past weekend we got a pair of Skye terriers from the pound. The way I understand the story, their owner is terminally ill, and sent them to the pound. Skye's aren't that common in the first place, let alone up here in Alaska.

They are already spayer/neutered, and we're going to try to adopt them out as a bonded pair. Gimli, the male (on left), is about 3 years old, and Aurora, the female, is about 18 month's old.

Aren't they gorgeous?

Then Sunday Vickie picked up a pair of Brussels Griffons. At least that is what we think they are, just not very well-bred ones. Two girls, about 2 & 4, and supposedly NOT spayed. They will be soon. *LOL*

Their names are Barbie (left) and Coco

They're no bigger than a minute!

And, of course, we have the usual assortment of pugs.

I heard about all these guys the other day. The skye's are beautiful for sure. And, you are right...how often are skye terriers in Alaska?

One of the BG looks a little better bred then the other....but, they are definately not very well bred either of them! I'll have to go visit them all this week though!

The Skye pair are beautiful! I NEVER see Skye Terriers around here.

Those BGs are very odd looking BGs - and so tiny! It makes me wonder if they are mixed with Yorkie. They look more like dogs than little monkeys.

The Skyes are gorgeous - they're rare, PERIOD.

And I tend to agree with Lisa, I don't know if they're pure BG, but maybe a mix that kinda looks like them? Cute, anyway! Actually, the more I look at them the more I think they might be a Shi Tzu/Maltese mix. BG's don't grow long silky coats like that.

I was thinking maltese might be in the mix, too. I like your take on their breeding.

Those Skyes are lovely! I do so love the name Gimli. And those don't look like BGs to me, either. More like some Yorkie or Shi Tzu in there.
