Cancer of the Prostate, doggies

Post  We're Here on 7/18/2010, 10:22 pm

I am so chagrined, I cannot remember who owned Hoover? and fought so selflessly to save him. I would love to have information about diagnosis, and again, I am so sorry that I cannot remember his owner's name--just that she loved him so much and showed us his grave marker in a grassy field.

That was me, unfortunately. I'll be happy to share whatever you need. I may have to go back and dig through his records for the specifics on meds, etc. It's very rare in dogs and at the time, we didn't have a lot of treatment options but I'm happy to go over what we did do.

Is one of your's in trouble Ellen? Many prayers for any dog going through this. And yes, Amanda fought hard for her boy.

On PV, you will see the long thread about a bulldog, dumped by his owner and abandoned by his breeder. All the breed rescues were full up and he is now privately homed. His vet seems at a loss, and is asking for a host of tests which may or may not be relative. For example, he isn't in pain, doesn't lick, is on a host of antibiotics, and is shedding blood but not by rectum or urination. He will certainly go back to the vet, but you are the only person I know with any experience with this disease and your thoughts would be so helpful. I know bulldogs are not pugs, but rescue is rescue and we need to stand together. Thanks so much.

I posted a response in the thread on PV. It's late here so I'm heading to bed but I told Lisa to feel free to contact me.
