Tummy Issues

Post  Dayna on 7/19/2010, 10:45 am

My poor little monkey boy has been having tummy issues for about 3 days now. The first day he tossed up everything he ate but we saw him eating grass so we figured he had an upset tummy. He did better on Saturday and ate with no problems. He got sickly early Sunday morning so I took him out. I cooked him some chicken and rice with carrots and green peas. He woofed it down last night for supper (early supper since he hadn't really ate much) and now he's got an urgency to go potty but he doesn't seem to be going. He had diarrhea yesterday morning but now its like he feels like he needs to go but he's "backed up". He's now holding down the food but he can't seem to go.shouldn't the chicken and rice help with that??

What is his usual poop pattern? Once or twice a day? Has he ever skipped a poop day before? The diarrhea could have emptied him out. Have you tried pumpkin? Please give Mr. Bear a big hug from me, and I'm thinking positive thoughts that things start moving soon.

Sounds like you're doing everything right Dayna. Sometimes these things can take a few days to settle down. Continue with the chicken and rice for a little while longer. Hope he's better soon.

Isn't rice FOR diarrhea? Maybe cut back on the rice? I hope he's feeling better soon!

Went home to check on Bear and OMG....!!!!! He puked up everything from this morning and a lot of foam - in the master bedroom. He had sudden onset diarrhea attack in the computer room. My goodness I'm glad I have a strong stomach, good carpet cleaners and strong air freshners. Took most of my lunch but its all cleaned up and he's calmed down. He went out for about 10 minutes and poo'ed the whole time. I don't see any blood thank goodness but its a lot of it. Monkey has a vet appt tomorrow at 1030. My MIL is going to take him.

Poor Bear! Do you think an obstruction might be possible? When Hooli had one, he actually did have diarrhea, and kept throwing up. I hope you get it figured out soon. hug dog

Duke didn't have any diarrhea with his obstruction, he just refused to eat and just wasn't himself. And he wimpered a lot.

Maybe it's the heat? A vet visit is a good idea. Prayers out to Bear Bear.

Nancy...he's a two poops a day kinda puggy. he's really acting odd. And he's normally pretty regular and isn't a puker. His tummy is soft to the touch. Hubby is home now which makes me feel a ton better. Didn't like that he was home by himself feeling awful.

No advice, just lots of good thoughts for Bear. Hopefully the vet will get him back on track.
