Gordon
This is our new foster pug Gordon or "Gordo", as we've been calling him. He's a little on the plump side!

He's a very sweet boy. His teeth have probably never been cleaned. He has several that are being held in by nothing but tartar. He'll be having that taken care of next Wednesday. His former owners said that he's 10 but my vet isn't so sure - he looks and acts younger (maybe 8-ish?). Hopefully he finds a terrific forever home quickly. As much as I like him, we are getting hammered with pugs needing to come in right now and there's not enough foster homes.

Oh boy, he is a bit on the fluffy side isn't he? Hopefully all will go well with his dental and he'll find his forever home in no time!

Re: Gordon
LOL. I won't tell my husband, Gordon, that there is a fat pug named Gordon. And my human Gordon hated being called Gordo since it means "the fat one".
He reminds me a bit of my former foster, Cooper, who WAS 10 and HUGE. But he was and still is a big puppy at heart.

Re: Gordon
Oh Gordo - welcome to the green bean diet!! LOL. Do you know his weight? The biggest foster I ever had was Frank - weighing in at 38 pounds! Bless his heart!
He is adorable, and I would love to snuggle him right up.
I hear you on the foster home situation. Much as I love my little foster Daisy, I am ready for her to move along, so I can help more fosters. There just aren't enough foster homes.

He looks as sweet as he is F-A-T!!! Hope, after some renovations, he's quickly rehomed.

He weighed in at 25.5 pounds, but should be closer to 20 lbs. at most. They were feeding him some crappy store brand soft food & he begs like crazy some I'm sure that he was probably getting some extra "treats" too. None of that here! We'll get him trimmed up in no time.

Re: Gordon
I think my biggest was BoBo who was over 40 lbs. We called him Wide Load alot. Cooper's family has nicknamed him Scooper as he has become a rather adept table surfer. Not bad for an almost 11 year old guy who was dumped at the shelter by his former family.
Re: Gordon
Oh my! What a fluffy pug man! I am in love.
Is he apricot, or is that just how the picture on my computer shows him?
He'll be runnin' around in no time! I hope he finds a forever home soon.

Re: Gordon
Yeah, I'd say he's a tad fluffly.
But, he is still adorable!! And, I hear you on the foster situation. I feel bad we've had Rocky for so long, but we've had no one interested in him.

Ditto here. We can't seem to move any dog that is older than 6 or who has any health issue, regardless of how manageable. And we are getting slammed with dogs. Just slammed.Brenda wrote:Yeah, I'd say he's a tad fluffly. But, he is still adorable!! And, I hear you on the foster situation. We put out a foster call pretty regularly and generally only get folks who really shouldn't be fostering. I get so many "Well, we've always wanted a pug so thought we'd foster and see if we really like the breed first". ARGH. Sorry, our rescues aren't rental cars. You don't get to experiment with some poor foster of ours.

I had Sherman for over 8 months. I could have kept him forever, but the woman who has adopted him has his mom, a brother, and works for a vet clinic so she understands giving his meds. I don't think we could have found a better place for him.

Sherman has found the best situation ever! I'm so happy for him.
What I don't understand is that MaryJo and I are the only two fosters for Polar Pug Rescue. We have two other ladies that foster non-pugs, since we take in small breeds pretty often, but it's just the two of us that foster pugs. I think we need more fosters, even just as back ups.

Reneé... Vickie would like another pug foster or two. We've had people offer, but after inspecting the premises, or the people, something would be off. Also, past foster homes have moved or stopped fostering for one reason or another, too.
For futurefoster homes, Vickie wants to have time to inspect their house, etc., just like adoptions. Also, Vickie herself fosters, the two Soldotna girls are at her house.
Lindy (my co-worker who helped us on Saturday) says she could foster a pug. Her brother is semi-retired and could be home to give a foster lots of attention.
Vickie still has to go see their house. I hope to set something up soon.

Re: Gordon
Wow. He is quite the chunk. He'll be a stunner when he is slimmed down.

No, he's not really apricot. It's just how the picture turned out (maybe his fur is reflecting the red on the floor/throw rug?).

Re: Gordon
That pug sure looks like he weighs more than 25.5 pounds. My grand pugs Toby and Zeke both weigh 23.5 pounds and they do not look anything like that! Toby and Zeke are just very large pugs. Whenever we go to pugs get togethers they are usually just about the largest pugs in attenedance. It would probably be better if my grand pugs weighed between 21-22 pounds. They get high quality low calorie dog kibble just under 1/2 cup twice a day and at least 3 small treats and some non-fat yogurt. Sorry, I got off the subject.

What a beautiful fluffy boy!
Our Smokey Joe was 32lbs when we
adopted him; he's now a lovely 23lbs.

He is indeed somewhat on the large side. But what a sweet face; I'm sure he'll soon find his forever home.

Re: Gordon
Mister Gordon is going to meet a potential adopter tomorrow and I am sure that they are going to love him. He is such a good boy, how could they not? Wish us luck!
P.S. I got excited the other day because I realized that he's starting to show signs of having a "waist". Yay!
