I think something like this bothers us more than them - we project our feelings of loss onto them, while they just get on with managing with three legs. Hugs to Buster and I know he'll be running with the rest of the pugs very, very soon. hug dog

Thanks again everyone! Buster is doing great! Much better than we had anticipated. We're actually having to keep him confined in an ex-pen most of the time to keep him from doing too much (which he is none too happy about! Laughing ). His staples come out in about a week and then he can have the run of the house again. He is such a little trooper! hug dog

Brenda - that's a fantastic update! I'm so amazed at how well dogs adapt to their situation. Here's hoping the next week is uneventful and he continues his recovery.

there was a poster a few years ago, can't seem to remember who - ugh..my memory, but her pug had one of his front legs amputated. it really made me see how adaptable these animals are. I would be depressed! they seem to just adapt to their new surroundings and move on.

much love and hugs to you and Buster! Hug

Buster's doing ok. Thanks for asking! He seems kind of down but I think it's because he has to be kept confined so much. I'd be bummed out too if I were him. We had him out for short periods over the weekend & at one point he tried to jump up on the couch. He just about made it - luckily my husband was right there to catch him & help him all of the way up. I feel like a horrible pug mommy though because I accidently bumped his incision this weekend & he cried out like I was trying to kill him. Embarassed Poor guy.

mean, mean pug mommy!! (I'm kidding...you know that!)

Sorry he isn't relishing the confinement. Hopefully his spirits will pick up when he's allowed to roam again.

Check out this story about a two-legged dog (make sure to watch the video). It's really inspiring, and it made me think of Buster and how adaptable dogs can be.

I hope he continues to do well, Brenda.

I'm familiar with Faith. She's really amazing! Have you guys ever seen the picture that circulated of a pug peeing on a tree while basically doing a handstand? Buster is mastering that manuver. It's pretty funny to watch! I don't know why he doesn't just pee on the left side - he insists on trying to lift his right leg. Laughing

Oh gosh Brenda. When Taz had his knee surgery on his left leg, it really messed him up. He would always lift his left leg to pee, and he just could not figure it out.

Hopefully his spirits will lift once he doesn't have to be confined any longer.
