Dog Insurance
So we got Lola insurance about a month ago now. I have done everything I can to make sure waiting and then Lola getting a ear infection wont come back and bite us in the butt later on as a pre exsisting condition. I have a question on the Behavioral condition coverage. What is this? She is on Pets Best.

Re: Dog Insurance
Well, I'm not absolutely sure, but I would guess it relates to disorders that are either behavioural in nature or disease that causes behavioural problems--so I'm wondering about some of the immune disorders--immune mediated thyroid which can cause aggression.
Maybe some of the OCD disorders where dogs obsessively lick or chew or circle?
Pure speculation on my part since I don't own any insurable dogs.

Re: Dog Insurance
Yea I have no clue, at first I just thought that it covered obedience training which I was super siked about. Then I read it was medical related. I might just call them just because I am curious.

Re: Dog Insurance
Let me know what you find out. I'd be interested in knowing what they consider a behavioural disorder. Ask about Canine Cognitive Dysfunction--it's an old dog disease, but the meds aren't cheap--I'd like to know if insurance covers it.Dboardman wrote:Yea I have no clue, at first I just thought that it covered obedience training which I was super siked about. Re: Dog Insurance
All meds are covered.
Heres what I have. I have the Basic 100.

I'll post when I figure it all out.

Re: Dog Insurance
WOW! They have ALOT of exclusions, I think. Interesting the breeds they don't cover for pregnancy stuff--virtually all toy breeds all likely needing C-sections.
I think their definition of congenital conditions is really broad, too. Won't cover patellar luxation surgery. Huh.
But for all I know all insurance is like this. I have never had it so know squat about it.

Yea they all are like that. There is one that has no exceptions at all but the price is insane. It was going to be more than what I pay for insurance for myself a month. The main reason I went with Pets Best is because it is Aetna which is my insurance Co. so I got a little bit of a better deal. We also started a high interest savings account about 3 months ago that I get a small percentage of my check deposited into to help cover anything else that might come up that wont be covered. I am hoping that since I feed her so well and stick to the recipe pugpillow posted that it will help keep Lola healthy for many years to come.
