First adopter update on Pippin. YAY
Here's what his new mom posted this morning on our rescue forum!
Well, it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet, but we are madly in love with Pippin. He is such a polite, well mannered and gentle little pup.
After Blanche left yesterday I wanted to keep him occupied to keep his mind off of the transition. I filled up our baby pool in the backyard for them, and he was so thrilled! They both played for a good half hour jumping in and out of the pool and doing some pug-tonas around the backyard. I could tell right off of the bat he is a water boy with no fear at all of the pool. Roxy was delighted to have a water playmate, and it really showed how she was playing with him.
After some swimming, I was pretty exhausted as it was a long day for me going on a rough sleep from the night before. We went indoors and watched TV together as we all cuddled. Pip was acting as if he knew me all along. They both cuddled on my stomach and had a snoring contest.
My husband arrived from work after our nap, and Pippin had yet to meet him at that point. As soon as he entered the door Pip greeted him by some excited barks then could not keep his tongue off of him! He must have been like a salt lick or something, because Pippin just loved him. They played for a while and gained a real liking for one another. My husband was so excited that Pippin blended in so well with us at this point, it had only been a few hours since his arrival but he was acting so well!
In the evening after dinner time, we decided Pip was settled enough to go for a short drive with us and a walk along a local beach and pier. He was so well behaved in the car, and I think he taught Roxy a few lessons! As soon as we arrived at the beach he pulled as hard as he could to get to the water. He and Roxy played around in it like little kids. After the water party, we had a nice walk along the pier and he impressed us with his leash skills. He also loved all of the attention we were getting from the passers by. He passed out on the ride home, and as soon as we got indoors. So, it turned out to be a successful first outing. I was hesitant to do and outdoor activity such as this on the first day, but he did amazing and had a ton of puggy energy to burn.
Bedtime was OK, he woke up a few times and wandered around the bedroom, but it wasn’t as bad as what I had expected. I am most surprised that we got through the first night with both of them sleeping in their dog beds! I think we were successful since I put the beds side-by-side right beside me on the floor. I slept with my one arm dangling off the bed so they had some comfort. He has been used to sleeping in a human bed thus far, so I was very impressed that this transition happened on the first night. Perhaps because his lovely lady Rox was right beside him was the reason he did so well. Who knows, but we were happy.
Ok, enough with my blabbering. I was able to catch a few short minutes to write this out as they cuddle beside me on the couch this morning. I will take some pictures this weekend and keep you all updated as he meets some of Roxy’s playmates and perhaps a trip to our dog park.

Well, he wasn't that well behaved for me!! Although he's never been a bad dog. We'll see how long the "exemplary behaviour" lasts.akc0104 wrote:papaspugs wrote:Yea for Pippin and his new family (who sound wonderful)! And Blanche, you have to take the credit for him being so well behaved. Good job!

(((((((((((((Blanche)))))))))))))))))))))))))
Well done!
And once the wonderful behavior wears off, it will matter little. Sounds like they are enthralled by the little fellow already!

I love love love updates like this!!!!!! Pippin sounds like he has landed in the perfect home. Good for him!!!
It really bothers me when we adopt a dog out, and never hear a word about them again. I realize we don't "own" the dog anymore....but, I really appreciate new owners that send updates.

No, I'm not crying. I'm too hard-hearted to cry. Honestly. Now where the bloody hell are the tissues.....

ROTFL!! If it makes you feel any better--I didn't cry when I dropped him off or even all the way back home, but when I read the update, I burst into tears. Relief as much as anything.Aussie Witch wrote:No, I'm not crying. I'm too hard-hearted to cry. Honestly. Now where the bloody hell are the tissues.....
Re: First adopter update on Pippin. YAY
to take that much time to write an update, she must really love him already. (though I have a sneaking suspicion he still thinks he's visiting and that's why he's on best behaviour. that's what zoe does. lol)

She didn't have much choice--almost everyone on our forum knew she was adopting him and she'd have been harassed ceaselessly if she hadn't posted about him.Mel wrote:to take that much time to write an update, she must really love him already. And Mel, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you're right. However, he did poop on their second floor hallway carpet when I was there to drop him off!

Great update! He is smart enough to know that he needs to be really good for a few days so they fall madly in love with him before he tries being naughty.

I've been so out of it I didn't realize Pippen had an adopter! He's one lucky dog - well, so far, his recent life had been extremely lucky. Great update! I'm so glad he found himself a great home (even though that meant leaving his great home with you, Blanche).
