Meet Georgie!
His eye looked way better than I thought, I was shocked the shelter actually treated it. I don't think they have ever done that before! They said it had ruptured and they sutured it shut but it was still kind of weepy. Our vet wasn't quite sure what was going on with it, so he was going to try and get ahold of the shelter vets to see what exactly they did-their paperwork wasn't very clear. The other eye is pretty icky too, pretty bad case of dry eye so he will need drops for that. He's a big guy, about 35 lbs! He was super sweet, jumped right into my car when I opened the door, I think he was happy to get away from there, lol. He was a good traveler, and he loved to be petted-he sat on my lap while we were waiting for the vet. They said he is about 5 years old.

He is such a little cutie. I'm glad you all got him and can't believe they were going to put him down.

They actually did take decent care of him though, perhaps a new leaf is turning....I can always hope.
Re: Meet Georgie!
He reminds me of my former foster, Cooper! He's a cutie. Glad things aren't as grim as you expected.

He's a handsome boy, and a good name for him! I'm glad he'll get to keep one eye at least. Pugs in the worst situations never cease to amaze me!

Me too. I have such a soft spot for those that were not loved and cared for, and still have enough forgiveness to move on and love again.

Georgie is the perfect name, and he is adorable. He looks older than 5, but he has had a rough life.

Almandine would be honoured to know he'd been named "Georgie"! What a sweet, sweet guy. I am so glad he's safe now.

Oh, bless him. What a darling boy. His poor face.
Almandine will indeed be honoured to know that you have named him Georgie. In case she doesn't see this thread, I will tell her when I see her on Sunday, when we are going together to re-home (separately) the 2 rescue boys she has been fostering. They didn't have names either, and have been called Bert and Ernie!

Re: Meet Georgie!
So the update was good, his eye is looking good. He's going to be on antibiotics for a few days. The weird part is it appears that the eye was stitched longer than they said, he said it looked pretty well healed. So who knows?
His other eye will require drops the rest of his life, but he can definitely see. The rest of him checked out pretty well, he got an ear cleaning and he will need to go on a diet. The vet said he's a really nice boy! We got a foster lined up-you guys might remember Emmi, one of our other special "winkers"-she will be his foster sister.
Oh and I forgot to mention, we have a last chance hold on the puggles. I'm still hoping they will get adopted though, I've sent emails out to every freaking puggle person I know!
I am so glad Bert and Ernie found homes. I love those two, such lucky boys!

Georgie is a cutie! I'm amazed how many pugs there seem to be in the US that need rescuing. Why is that?
So glad you got him Saira!

Yes it's horrifying for us non-US residents, isn't it?
I assume it is because there are so many puppy farms and BYBs and pet shops in the US that do not bother to screen or even to support puppy buyers.

Yes, our BYBs and pet stores are out of control. In Vegas, there is a pet store EVERYWHERE, it's sickening. And we don't have nearly the amount of pugs dumped that some of the other rescues do-especially in the areas where the puppymills are. It's a huge problem here in the States. Vegas doesn't have puppy mills like the midwest does, but we do a have a lot of pet stores and bybs. You see tons of puppy ads on craigslist and the paper.
