greedy little pug scarfed a bit of cinnamon toast - problem?

Post  Imon on 11/20/2010, 10:26 am

My granddaughter left her breakfast cinnamon toast (not the cereal, real toast with butter and cinnamon sugar) where Otto could grab it. He got a quarter of a piece of toast, with the cinnamon. He apparently loved it, because by the time I got across the room to him, it was gone.

Problem? (He seems fine now)

Nah cinnamon is fine... He might get a bit of an upset tummy from the sugar and butter though. Should only be dire-rear and/or vomiting if at all.

Wouldn't cause an issue for my pugs.

Thanks....he seems fine. In fact, he's sniffing around where the toast was, probably looking for more. I think Hana now understands why I tell her not to leave food around when Otto's nearby.

I think this was the first time he's ever eaten cinnamon, so I wasn't sure if it was problematic or not for dogs.

Cinnamon is actually very good for yeast problems. Yeast infections stems from an overgrowth of yeast in the digestive tract (normally there is some but it's kept in check naturally) that spreads to other parts of the body. Cinnamon kills off the excess yeast and can help dogs with chronic yeast problems by giving a teaspoon in their meals.
