What could it be?

What could it be?
I'm concerned about my Jack. Usually he is very spunky, bouncy and all over the place. He is our clown pug. Well, yesterday evening when I got home from work I took the pugs out to potty and noticed Jack wasn't his bouncy go explore self. He did his business and when walking up the stairs he was doing the bunny hop (his front paws on one step and then hopping with the back legs onto the next step). I thought that was odd, considering he usually just runs right up the steps. Got inside and sat on the couch, usually all the pugs run and jump on top of me on the couch. Jack didn't. I encouraged him and he tried, but couldn't do it. He didn't make any sounds, it looked like he couldn't do it. So, when then I went to pet him and when I got to his lower back area he sat down. His tail has been down too. I gave him so glucosamine and hoping that makes him feel better. I'm just not sure what it could be. He's not limping, he's eating, drinking, pooping, peeing and not whimpering.
Thoughts?

I hope Jack is ok. No clue what it could be but extra hugs for one of my favorite pugs in WA. There is something special coming to his house hopefully today or tomorrow from his little buddy in AZ....Hopefully that will make him feel better

Re: What could it be?
You might want to get him checked for hip dysplasia or LP. I know with HD, sometimes the bunny hop is a sign. Indy had surgery when he was a year old (the reason he came into rescue), and I was told by our vet that he did the bunny hop quite often before surgery. He could have also sprained or injured something. I'd watch him and not let him jump though until you can get him in for an exam!

I agree with Saira.....you may want a vet to check it out. It sounds very similar to when our Mollie suffered a 'slipped disc' in her back. She was on meds (anti-inflammatory) and very restricted activity for a while, and she recovered quite nicely
One very positive result was that we purchsed a ramp for Mollie to use to get on the sofa and now all the pugs use it!

I hope it's just nothing and all is well later today.

I agree with the vet recommendation. It sounds like you may need x-rays. Restrict activity too.
Good thoughts for your little man!

Yes, a trip to the vet! Definitely restrict activity in the meantime. Hope all is okay.

Marlee bunny-hopped before her HP surgeries. But (at least in my experience) dyplasia isn't something that becomes suddenly symptomatic -- usually there are various signs over a period of time.
Ramps rule. I have them for our couch and bed because of Marlee, and even the cat uses them!

Re: What could it be?
Thank you everyone, for the advice!!!
I called and checked on Jack this morning and Hubby said he was doing better. He had perked up and he was running and doing a little jumping up on the couch.
By the time I got home tonight he was full force Jack! I'm still a bit concerned and will watch him, and I think I will make an appointment to at the vet to just to check. It never hurts!!
Thanks again!!!
