Violet and pee-peeing

Post  papaspugs on 1/2/2011, 6:42 pm

Violet's foster mom said that Violet could not hold her pee for extended periods of time and needed to be let out often. When I talked to her she said that was just when she first came into rescue and was much better.

Voilet comes to our home. She asks to go out, she will go to the back door or she'll kind of pace around and I just know. But she will stll pee inside. She has 2-3 spots where she'll just go and pee when my back is turned. This will be after she has gone outside too. Before her surgery, she has a complete blood panel done and everything came back fine. We also did a urine sample and no UTI. If this is behavioral, I am okay with breaking the habit, but should there be something medically I should look for/test?

With a clear blood panel and no UTI it is pretty heavy odds that this is strictly behavioural. She is possibly marking to establish her rights - has she begun to try to assert herself over your other girls yet in any way?

The other possibility is that the favoured spots are reassurance spots because she's been through a few homes? Maybe that's what went on at the foster's, too? If that is the case, it will probably pass soon.

I hope you can turn this around soon Jana. Sounds behavioural.

Jana,

Maybe taking an xray of her bladder just to make sure there are no stones might ease your mind. When we first found Pugsly's stones, he did not have an infection but would just pee after being outside and often.

I am still going to have Violet's bladder x-rayed, but I think it is behavioral. She will look right at me and hike her leg inside. Also, she can be on the couch with me for 5 hrs and not have to pee. But she can't come inside and not pee for 30 mins?
