Update on Bud

I took Bud in for a check up and some bloodwork on Monday since he's been "off" lately (incontinent, screaming in his sleep, etc.). While we were there, I mentioned to the vet that he won't let me brush his teeth anymore & is especially sensitive on the left side. Turns out, he's got a big old growth in the back of his mouth on the top left side. He'd been doing this lip smacking thing that never even really struck me as particularly odd but I guess now it makes sense. He's on antibiotics & once those are done, they're going to have to remove the growth & biopsy it. I'm so worried about putting him under anesthesia & then there's also the fact that this could be a malignant growth. His bloodwork was a bit off too - his albumin is low & wbc count is high (that could be due to the growth), so we also did a urinalysis & he is losing protein in his urine. I'm so sad for little old man. He's such a momma's boy. Today is his 12th birthday.

Awe, poor Bud. That growth must have really been bothering him. I hope the antibiotics do the trick, and getting that growth out helps. Like Saira said, it is so hard watching them age.

Poor Bud (and you, Brenda). It's so hard watching them age. I hope that all goes well with his surgery and it's nothing but a benign growth.
