Does your pug do this? *Video*

Post  puglouie on 1/26/2011, 5:04 pm

My husband and MIL tell me that Louie does this all day long when I'm not home. I'm home today trying to sleep a bit to get over a stomach thing and he came in to my room, plopped down on the floor and started whimpering. He's deaf now and nearly blind and we're treating him for an ear infection. After that gets better, he's going in for a dental as his teeth are just awful. But other than that, he seems to be doing well for all he's gone through. Curly tail, runs in to the kitchen for dinner, eats well, etc.

I should mention that he tends to be a prima donna sometimes (I know, you're probably thinking "well, he's a pug, isn't he?") but I thought I'd throw that out there so you know he's prone to that. Has anyone else seen this behavior with their pug? I'm curious if you have any thoughts on what it could be from watching him.

Thanks in advance. You are all always very helpful.

Could he be just trying to get attention? The older Tilly gets, the more she "talks" to us.

If they pick him up will he stop? Poor guy, I'm not really sure what is going on. I don't know if he sounds like he is in distress or is just looking for attention.

There could be some abdominal pain going on there. Almost colicky? I want to pick him up and burp him or try gripe water or something....

I watched it again and I sure don't see any signs of pain. His eyes are bright and he doesn't seem tense. I still think he is just "talking".

Gus, my blind 12+ yr old foster pug makes lots of noise too. His isn't so subtle though... Laughing He will lay there and howl in this deep little old man sounding gravely tone that is adorable. I just think they are more needy as they age. I we go get Gus and put him up with us he stops and sleeps. I think the blindness coupled with age makes him want to be with us, but not want to extend the effort to walk and try to find us, and it works for him!

Indy talks, a lot. He makes all sorts of weird noises, all for attention.

I don't know about the pugs...but as I get older I find myself talking to myself and making some odd groaning sounds.... rofl

seriously though...Turbo does this same thing and I find he does it when he seems to be bored or something.
