Tank's belly now

Post  northernwitch on Wed 2 Feb - 18:32

So I took some pictures of Tank's belly tonight so you can see the progress we've made. And yes, I'm bragging about this cause I never, ever thought we'd get to this point. You can even (though probably not in this picture) see where his tattoo is now.

It's amazing what the right food and some judicious medical treatment can do. the turning point for him was the whole carcass diet and changing the dog beds regularly.

Considering we started with this 3 years ago:

I think DeeDee used the right word - miraculous!! Really, Blanche, you deserve to brag about it. What you have done is awesome, and only a small percentage of people could have even done half as well.

Now... when is Carnivora going to sell in the US?????

The closest you can get to Carnivora in the states is Bravo Basic i believe.
It's just meat bones and organs, no veggies. I can't comment on the quality but it's a similar style to the Carnivora that Blanche and I use.

Great job. You know, most people would have just settled with him being okay. You made sure that he was taken care of inside & out.

Is his tatoo from a puppymill? Teddy had P1 in his ear.

The black belly is from several things--bad diet, yeast infections, allergies, poorly regulated hypothyroid, prednisone.

No, Jana. Tank is actually from a woman who used to be a top flight pug breeder here in Canada. Most of the champion pugs up here often had their foundations in her lines. He's CKC registered as M*****d's Sir Pugsalot. Pugsy for short (ICK). But his first foster home changed his name to Tank and we kept it when he blew out of that home and came to us. He was aggressive with her black male pug. I've never had any aggression issues with him and I think most of it was likely Roid Rage.

I totally forgot that the surrender for Tank said he was aggressive. It's hard to reconcile that with his belly rub pics! I'm sure he feels so much better these days.

Well, his original surrender to the Pug Club of Canada rescue was because the family "couldn't stand the stink any longer". He'd already been re-homed at least twice prior to them. He then went to one of the PCC foster homes and got snarly with the resident black male. Then the head of the PCC was going to take him (she desperately wanted him), but Tank didn't like her male rottie, Boomer. Since I had the only all female home, he came to me. I've had very few issues with him over all and I do believe all his aggression was due to the prednisone. He's been around black dogs, intact dogs, etc and no issues. He has a hate on for an intact black lab in our park, Jake. Beats me why. He was fine with Jake until Jake turned two then Tank decided that Jake must die. As soon as he sees Jake he hackles up. Jake is a great dog and has never bugged Tank. So who knows why Tank doesn't like him.

Interestingly, the head of the PCC rescue had called me when Tank first came in and begged me to adopt "this fabulous dog that just came in". At the time, Pete was in the end stages of his malignant melanoma so I said no. Then Pete died, Tank became a ratbag in foster care....and the rest, as they say, is history.

But you'll notice that virtually every picture I have posted of Tank--if he's being held--it isn't by me. I'm nothing to Tank. It's all about The Boy.

Truly amazing! Seeing the before and after is just incredible. Brag all you want, definitely deserved! Tank is lucky to have someone like you who has put all this time and effort into getting him better. I look up to people like you who have given to their animal like you've done. Great job!
