Calvin's Surgery

Post  monkeypigs4eva on Fri 4 Feb - 11:50

Ok, deep breath. Honorary pug information:
Calvin (beagle) went to the vet this morning because I found a bump on his elbow and he has lost weight.
They found A) a heart murmur, very slight, B) he's lost 5 pounds in three months, C) he has three growths that need to be removed and biopsied, D) he has a broken tooth that needs to be removed ASAP!!
Cal's surgery is on Wednesday, unless something in his blood work comes back wonky. I have 5 days to obsess and worry. Rolling Eyes

Well, the tooth can get fixed and the dumps removed. Let's hope with those ickies gone, Calvin can get to feeling better and gain some of his weigh back.

I'm so sorry Kim. Five days is a long time to worry and obsess. (((Hugs)))

Re: Calvin's Surgery

Post  monkeypigs4eva on Sat 5 Feb - 13:28

Thanks everyone. Thankfully Joe drove out this weekend, I don't think I could have gotten through the weekend alone.
Calvin is my heart dog. I love Angus to death but he has always been so bonded to Joe. Calvin has always been my boy, from the first day he came into our lives.
Ok, enough for now. Gotta keep the worrying to a minimum so I don't upset Cal. He's super in-tune to my moods. He is going to the dog park today, as a special treat. hug dog

Thanks again. I get the results of the blood work tomorrow and am thinking positive about that. It doesn't hurt that I have Angus' explosive diarrhea to deal with Rolling Eyes

(UPDATE)

Post  monkeypigs4eva on Mon 7 Feb - 16:55

HAPPY! The vet called and Cal's blood work was perfect! In fact, he said that for ANY age, much less a dog of 14, he looked amazing. Phew! So he is fine to go ahead with the surgery on Wednesday. That is a relief. hug dog

Isn't it funny how I'm hopeful/worried in steps: Step 1, healthy bloodwork. Step 2, sucessful surgery. Step 3, benign bioposy results.
One down, two to go
